Aroids (EEs or Philos or etc...)

Hollywood, FL(Zone 10b)

Does anyone have any interesting aroids (my yard has two types of philodendrons, different foliage but both just green, whereas I'd like some color) that they'd trade maybe some cuttings for? Pups are all I'd need.

I'm completely new to plant trading, and quite frankly it scares me to think of it, but I'd rather get these things through a trade than through buying.

I'm trying to make a list up of things I have in the meantime, but I just wanted to make sure people had pups, and would be willing to part with them first...

Thanks!

HI Gina! I am the person who has the Bi-Color Butterfly Bush cuttings that I've rooted for you :) Anyway, I finally cleaned my plant room and I do have some of the green EE tubers. I can send you some of them with the above cuttings. Don't "worry" about having nothing to trade at the moment...wait til next year and we'll work something out then, OK?! I grow my EE's in containers and then just bring the pots into the basement to overwinter but I don't think that you'd have to do this.

I WILL be sending these out to you next week...I'll let you know the exact day/date that I send them.

thanks Jan & Beck!
That's so kind of you, but please DON'T send the green EEs!! LOL- I have lots and lots in the yard!
I was looking for some colored ones to offset all the green! :)~

It was so very sweet of you both to offer, though, and if either of you would like philo pups (like one foot tall) you may have them! [With the stipulation that you help me pack correctly!]
I'm positive I have pups of the second one (or at least a philo that looks exactly like it), but the pups of the first one don't seem to be pinnated(?) yet.

I also have Root Beer plant http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/530/index.html
as well as the locally invasive Arrowhead vine http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/93772/index.html

These will eventually go on a trade list, but I haven't gotten past "Aralia" yet, lol... I'm determined to discover the species I have. Plus, I'm slow.

But thanks so much again for your offers! ~Gina

Gina,

You are quite welcome. I love Philo's. I have two of the cut leave Philo's. I just gotta share a picture of mine. Well now I dont have a recent picture of them darn it. But they are about 4 X's as big as the picture. I brought them in with the rest of my tropicals and put them in a room in the house that is 8X10 and let me tell you it is all I can do to get around them to get to the other tropicals. And they are still growing wildly along with my banana's. I dont have my camera right now it is at our hunting place. Silly me 4got to bring it home. But if you remind me around Thanksgiving I will show you a recent picture. As for we will be coming back from 1 of our hunting trips. That is if my sometimers remembers to bring the camera home......LOL

If you have a camera I would love to see some pictures of your Philo's also. I love to share pictures. To see the beautiful pictures just makes me calm and joyish (if that is even a word)...lol

Beck,
I've promised myself that I'm getting a digital camera this weekend, so I should have pics for you next week. :)
I will have ALOT of pics for you! ...Only recently did I actually look up the Philodendron family, and I think I have some that aren't in the PlantFiles... but I'll send in the pics to be identified, too.
I've got a variegated one that kinda looks like Heart-leaf philo, and it's really common (used by florists) and it's so invasive here that it's crawling up my Grandmother's crape myrtle. The particular section on the crape myrtle is so huge that the leaves are cut like swiss cheese and a couple feet long!
Maybe that's not in the philo family, b/c I'm positive there would be pics of it shown here.

My Grandmother has some interesting philo-like plants in her front garden that have gorgeous variation but I don't see them here either. She might not approve if I took some for trading purposes, lol. ;)

Maybe you will have to tempt grandma with trades for her. LOL I need a new camera but the one that I want is about $500 so it will have to wait til after Xmas. Then I will get it. The one I have now has a mind of it own. Ok I'll take a picture this time. OOOOh no you dont I am not taking one this time I dont feel like it. LOL silly ole camera. Sometimes it will take a picture and just tease ya with such a small scale that you cant see it good but you do know that that is what you were taking a picture of. If any of that makes sence. And I dont know how to ajust the stupid thing so I just start playing with the button until it works. The next time it wont work that way time to play with the buttons again....LOL
