Tropicals over the winter (garage storage)

Frisco, TX(Zone 7b)

I am in zone 7b, and have three braided trees in terra cotta pots.
I am going to try to get them thru the winter in the garage, taking them out for warm spells.
Any experienced care instructions?
I know they are inexpensive plants, but if I can get them thru, that's a few extra bucks, plus satisfaction.

I too have 2 braided hibiscus and need to know what to do with them. They are in my living room right now, and blooming. Would it be better to put them in the garage? I am zone 6A. my neighbor gave them to me and I think I should have said no thanks. these things are huge and dropping leaves galore.

help is much appreciated. Do they have to go dormant?

I also have my hibiscus in large pots. I put mine in a storeroom for the winter. The room has windows and it's on the east side so the plants get some sun. Mine do go dormant during the winter. They always come back out in spring though.

Dancey, Thanks

I have no windows in my garage. I plan to pull them out in the wagon (when I leave for work) on those days where it is going to be warmer and sunny, and pull them back in when I get home. Any idea on how much light they will need for "dormancy" to function?

Thanks

If you take them in and out of your garage like that they may bloom all winter for ya. Mine usually wind up dropping all their leaves when the weather gets pretty cold even though they have lots of light. WJ even if they don't get much light they will still remain alive and will come back out in spring. If they begin to look bare and lanky don't worry because they will come back.

Thanks Dancey -

That's what I wanted to hear.
