Anyone know what happened to THGA???

Piedmont, SC(Zone 7b)

Hi Everyone,

I was just curious to know if anyone had heard from DG member THGA?? I asked a question a while back about what tropicals would grow in my 7b climate. THGA was kind enough to offer to send me some gingers for postage. I sent a money order for a flate rate box to her per her request but never heard back from her. I sent dmail but nothing. I was beginning to think something terrible might have happened....you never know what is going on in everyone's life. I was sorta worried about someone I have never met if that makes any sense. Anyway, tonight I saw this on her Garden Site...

A note from THGA:
"I wear many different hats depending on what time of the year it is. During the regular school year I teach Book Arts at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I also teach a variety of Book Arts related workshops here and around the country when I can. I maintain a Textile Conservation practice as well, so when I'm not teaching I'm getting to handle marvelous old rags! I also have a small art rubber stamp company called Retro Rubber Stamps (http://www.retro.to) that exists online and "goes to sleep" when I'm too busy with school and/or textiles. At last count I have six cats (Froggie, Face, Bob, Woody, Pinkie and Greta). LOL! I love to trade, though sometimes I run late, so if this bothers you, just wait til you've received my end before sending yours - deal? Great! Happy Gardening!

Chris - THGA"

So, should I take that as a sign??? Maybe I have just been duped? Maybe she just forgot....but then why not answer my dmail and say so? Or maybe something did happen. I hope THGA is okay...I would rather lose 7 or 8 bucks than have had something bad happen to someone. Anyone know what happened to THGA?

I don't know her so can't help on whether she's OK or not...If you look at the threads she's started, the last one was on 10/9, don't know if that's since you sent the box or not. Some people aren't as addicted to DG as others, or they get busy with life and don't check in here real often (and sometimes the alert that you've got new D-mail doesn't work like it's supposed to, so it's possible she never knew she had a new message from you). I don't think you've been duped--she has good feedback and she was honest about her trading habits, so I think you probably should have had her send the stuff first and then sent her the postage after you received the plants.

Thanks ecrane...I can understand what you are saying. I just saw that blurb on her garden site tonight. Never thought to look at it before. And thats the thing...she DOES have good feedback, which made me think that something must have happened. This is our correspondence.....

let me know how you would like to do the shipping and i will get it right out to you...can you tell i am excited !! hahaha!

I'll pack up a Flat Rate Priority box for you for a total of $8.10 (or $8.60 if you want delivery confirmation). I love the Flat Rate boxes! You really get a lot of bang for your buck that way. I'll get this out to you this week and you can start your Tropical garden!

Hi Chris,

Hope you are having a good day and all is well. I just wanted to make sure that you got the money order...i sent it out on 08-31. I am always worried sending stuff through the mail.

Thanks,

Tia

Again, I was just curious....life goes on :-)

Well, she's definitely been on DG since the last mail you sent her, my guess would be that for whatever reason she didn't see your message--maybe try dmailing her one more time?

Thanks for the advice ecrane3....have a good night!

Chris does tend to drop off the face of the earth from time to time but she is really worth the wait! She keeps a pretty hectic schedule. I second the suggestion to try to contact her again. If she forgot to mail you plants, I'm sure it was an oversight and she'll make good on it. I've traded with her a couple of times. The first time I didn't hear from her for a couple of weeks and a huge box showed up on my porch. LOL I traded with her again not too long ago.

seed's 'Big Box' acquisitions are legendary.
I've been there when one was being repotted.
I'd say she's just busy.

Just a thought.........have you tried her retro email?

Hey I'm looking for chris also. sent her her coop order and since she hasn't acknowledged, I'm worrying the bulbs are just sitting outside her door. If anybody hears from her, pls post here. thanks.

Hi all. I emailed Chris to the address shown in the first posting. She answered and received the bulbs I sent her. She is extremely busy w/ teaching school and heavily involved in her community's fine art auction. Maybe it will be OK to contact her there in case of unfinished business. She didn't say one way or the other. Otherwise, seems happy and safe.
