I'm looking for Lantana trifolia: http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/13066/
I'm looking for anything, even just seeds or cuttings would be great. I'll pay postage or if you prefer to trade I have other Lantana, albeit much less rare, that I can trade (seeds, cuttings, etc).
CLOSED: CLOSED: Wanted: Lantana trifolia, aka popcorn lantana
Still looking for that huh? LOL If you get some....LMK You should check out the SW forum, we have a gathering coming up in Tucson of all places.
Yeah still looking... two years now! You figure with the way they seed I'd be able to find some but I guess it's not a very popular plant.
Hmm, I see the Tucson gathering is on 11/11, thanks. Right now it doesn't look like I'll be free that weekend but I may try to push things aside, especially if you think it's likely to be there.
Oh, no, I think it highly unlikely it would be there LOL Sorry if I gave you that impression, I thought you might like to meet some local gardeners, it'll be fun!
Ah. :) Thanks for point it out I hadn't heard about it. I'd still like to go but I'll have to see about that weekend.
It scares me that someone has a name that is so like mine, folks could get us mixed up!
I've been told I look like you (in name) before, especially on GardenWeb, but I've never seen you in the same place at the same time as I am. Although, I thought you were someone in zone 7. Perhaps there is another darius?
Never been on GW more than 5 minutes and that was years ago. I used to be In Asheville NC, 6b.
Every time there's a new post to this you must think someone has that plant LOL And here's another one! I had asked buyers at a couple of our nurseries about that before and they hadn't even heard of it. Have you asked at your nurseries, I would think MVG could get it for you....for a price.
Plant, blooms, seeds? I have all!!!
Your problem is we don't know it by that name. We call it 'Fruity Peebles'!!!
I'll have to ck the botanical when I get back to the Farm, (Treesearchfarms.com), to verifiy we are talking about the same plant. But I think, we are!
darius: I don't think they thought you were on GW, just that you and I had similar names and both active in trading. If you /were/ on GW we probably would have crossed paths by now.
azreno: I've asked several around here but while some remember having it, none are able to get it now.
Smockette: Ah yes, I've heard it called 'Lantana Popcorn', 'Lavender Popcorn', and 'Fruity Pebbles'. That's great news. Even just some seeds would be great!

I have never seen this Lantana...I love them! I grow seven different ones and they are a major plant in my gardens. I would love to find this plant also! If you have any luck, I will be very interested as well!

Smockette, I would love some seeds, too if you have them! LMK what you're looking for in exchange.
Okay, let me get them bagged up.
If you would, send me a d-mail w/addys & I'll do my best to get them out this wk,
& clear that calendar & make room for that RU!!! We just had our Fall Texas RU w/the Dave! It was great! Ck Texas Gardening Forum for pix of our good time!!!
I have a Lantana question; can u start new plants from cuttings? I have several (multi colored, white, golden yellow...) and the flowers give way to these clumps of round green things that turn drk purple (like berries). Are these the seeds? I know the Cardinals just love them but I'd like to beat the birds to them if these are seeds.
1st...Yes, you can start new plants fr cuttings. Dip in water, dip in 'rootone' (root stimualtor powder), & pot.
2nd....Yes, those berries are seed & can be planted.
They seed very easily too! I have volunteers every year! I love them! I don't have the Fruity Pebbles though, I am so excited about getting the seed, Smockette! Thanks for such a generous offer..do they grow from seed as readily as the others? I read that they are treated more like annuals, in zones above 10-11...so I will need to collect seed every year...or make sure some fall into fertile soil around the plants..right.
Just a quick question to make sure we have the right plant.......were the berries black or purple?
I think they are purple!
They are purple, I wanted to make sure Smockette has the right plant....I have seen the name "fruity pebbles" applied to a lantana camera because of the color of the flower :-(
I am finally reading this thread fr the Farm. Let me tell you my boss is fanatical (sp?) about the correct botanical & my inventory says 'Lantana trifolia'. Seeds start out bright purple & as they dry, they turn almost black!
