I want to give my granddaughter's boyfriend a cookbook for Christmas. He is doing all the cooking and even aspires to be a pastry chef. Right now though, he needs a good basic cookbook. I have had Joy of Cooking for many years and of course, thought of that. But I wondered if there was a better, perhaps simpler cookbook for beginners. All suggestions will be appreciated.
