Can someone tell me how to send money for postage using Paypal? Sandi
Using Paypal
Log into your PayPal account. Click on "Send Money" at the top. Enter the amount and the email address of the recipient.
I had problems a while back because we had not updated our credit card's expiration date, but once that was done, it worked fine.
Thanks Patrob, but I don't have Paypal acct. do I have to have an acct in order to send money to someone else?
Yes, but it is easy to set up and free to you when you send money. They will require an email address and either a checking account or a credit card number. Their web site www.paypal.com will take you thru the sign up process step by step. The money is transmitted by an email address.
Sorry, I was assuming! We have a PayPal account that accesses a credit card, but I am not comfortable giving our bank account number. Just me.
Patrob, I understand but we each have a separate paypal acct. They wouldn't use the same cr cd on both accts and I didn't want to put another cr cd # out there. I know how much is (read isn't) in my bank acct and I check it online on a regular basis. They could sure do more damage on the cr cd although the company limits liability. I monitor these accts online too.
I like paypal. Have purchased office supplies and other mdse and they use it like a debit card and draft the amount from checking or, on the other account, add to the credit card. I don't know how much sense that made...
Used to sell on ebay lots and you will make more sales by taking paypal.
Who ever is shipping plants for postage won't receive the actual postage amount from Paypal as they will be charged a nominal fee.
Thanks again Pat..... and Podster. I clicked on the link, gave 'em credit card info and away went the payment. Just never thought I'd use Paypal, so didn't look into it before. Then while recuperating from unplanned surgery, I saw someone was sharing plumerias for postage.
Now that I have an acct. (and some free time), you just may have contributed to creating a shopping monster!
appreciate it.....Sandi
I hear you! They make life easy... Wish you a speedy recovery too. pod
Sandi - my goodness, I hope you are feeling ok and that your recovery is speedy also. Please let me know if there is something you need while you are not feeling the best.
Paypal is great. Just my $.02, however I feel it is as secure as any other banking online method. They have a very good reputation.
I've heard too many really negative stories about PayPal and would never use it. Most online businesses have an alternative and if they don't...too bad, they won't get my business!
I have had good luck with PayPal, but you really have to watch out for the "Phishing" emails you get from criminals who have their emails set up to look exactly like they are coming from PayPal. They usually say they are confirming a payment sent to someone for an EBay auction, and if you are disputing this please click on a link they include.
Since Paypal always really sends a confirmatory email about payments, you have to really look closely. The "sender" info on the fake ones looks the same, the email itself looks just like it is coming from PayPal.The real emails don't have a "Link" to dispute payments.
I've never clicked on the false link, but would imagine it would ask you what your log in and password were for paypal, then the criminals would have your information and could clean you out. I have my account set up with a checking account that only has a small amount of money in at any one time and a credit card that I only use for online purchases. just have to be really careful and always type in the address and open a web page for yourself, not through a link.nancy
I've used paypal and never had a problem, but I have noticed some phisy looking emails from somebody trying to look like paypal. It sure makes things convenient.
I'm with you Linda--there has been way too many problems with paypal lately. It's esp. bad if you are trying to receive money (not pay for things) with paypal. I won't use them. Any reputable company will have an alternative (because they know) or doesn't deal with paypal at all; which is usually the case.
Geez ya'll, I didn't mean to open a discussion. I just needed to know how to set up an acct! ....which I did, sent postage payment (which was a little more than actual cost to include Paypal costs), and within half an hour I had a D-mail saying she'd received the payment. Was so much fun that I did it again this morning! I sent postage payment for some tropicals. I've followed the Co-op forum a bit, and there's a group who would have lost considerably if they had not used Paypal for their transactions.
Merae...I'm much better now. Thanks for your concern. Thought I was having a heart attack. Had a large gall stone escape and "stick." Everything I thought I'd do before surgery...researching doctors, etc. went right out the window. No time to think. Had great surgeon and no pain to speak of. Sorry I'll miss the RU. I really wanted to go this time....maybe in spring.
