Holly's Pride from Tess

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Hey Tess, the Holly's Pride I got from you last June is blooming and it is the most beautiful coral color I have ever seen. My camera has issues with color so it is hard to tell from the photo but the color is awesome. Thanks girl/plantfriend. alice

Great, Alice! I've wondered how some of the orphans made out...lol...;)

Well two that were dehydrated from shipping did not make it; remember they took 9 days to get here. I suspect they were sitting in my very hot, un-AC'd post office storage barn waaaayyy too long.

The remaining orphan, Pink Frost, looks wonderful but no buds yet or at least there weren't any the last time I looked.

I keep hoping that all my hibiscus will have open flowers on the same day so I could get a group photo but they just won't cooperate.

Here's my orphaned Holly's Pride. This is a bloom from late August.
Naturally, now that it's time to bring it inside and go dormant, it's got 5 new buds on it. 2 of which are about to open. I'm going to put it in my kitchen by the deck doors and give it lots of sunshine to see if the new buds will open. I'm crossing my fingers that they don't fall off.

Tess, your daughter should REALLY do the same fundraiser next year! :-)

By the way Tess, how was her trip? It sounded like such a wonderufl opportunity.

lol...as far as a fundraiser this year (meaning the spring) might not be so far off. She loved the trip, and wants to go this year again...oh, yeah...and just in case you don't ALREADY hate the brat, this year's trip is 20 days in the Mediterranean - Italy, Malta, Sicily. And yes, I'm terribly jealous.

So she is working away again this year, trying to get the cash together, so maybe there'll be another go-round...

I didn't get photos of HER having fun-she took tons of photos of other kids goofing off, but didn't think to hand the camera off to someone else. But here's a sleepy koala, which she reports smells exactly like a Halls cough drop because of all the eucalyptus they eat. They got to hold them and her eyes were watering like crazy, but her sinuses were perfectly clear...lol...
