Today I decided to top water a lot of my african violets. I usually bottom water most of them. I have them in green trays and I usually just put the water in the trays and let them soak up what they want and then dump the rest out. But today I decided to water them from the top and flush each with good clean water. When I did, the water that came out from each one was a brownish color. I flused them really well and I hope they will all be okay. They look healthy and a couple are starting to bloom again. What do you think caused the brownish water and will they all be okay?

Strange color water?
Most likely if you had loose soil in the pot it flushed out along with the water > muddy water.
Yes you flushed out dirt muddy water and minerials....
Maybe a little of the fertilizer salts
I've found that often happens with my plants that are in a peat-based soil.....I don't think it's anything to worry about.
Right... I think peat moss contains tannins, just like tea leaves, so it'll turn water tea-brown. Top watering periodically to flush out extra fertilizer salts is a good idea! :-)
