Boy, have I learned a lot since moving to Idaho from CA...gardening here is a whole new world! Did I get it right? Are we able to grow tropical plants here in cold country. I am used to sticking a wooden chair leg in the ground and getting leaves in CA but have had to start from point A here and it is an exciting experience. Please let me know what kind of easy tropicals I can grow here in 5/6 zone, or if not let me know if I misunderstood. Thanks for the help..
Tropical plants?
I don't have any experience with gardening in your zone but I would think any tropicals you were to grow would need to be wintered over in a frost free place.
I grow many tropicals in my zone 8b garden but I have to winter them over. I have an unheated but insulated growroom that I use for this purpose.

I'm in zone 8b too, so I just bring my tender perennials inside for the frosty months. As long as they don't freeze, they are okay.
