I haven't ordered anything from these folks, but they specialize in Australian plants.

This place has some very unusual plants - kinda pricey on a lot.

MCI charged an outrageous amount for a phone call and we share the same country code (001). Pacific Rim charges Yanquis $12 for a pytosanitary certificate.
Propagators of Rhododendrons incl. Vireya, Maddenia and Evergreen Azaleas, but not Deciduous Azaleas or Ledums. Order now to be rooted for spring. $ 0.50 - $3.50

Regardless of where you live a $30 - $35 membership is an absolute must for the seed exchange.

There are many specific seed exchanges such as the "American" Rhododendron Society (Worldwide). Google "seed exchange" + plant name
Another cool one is Silverhill Seeds--they are in South Africa but will ship to the US, just takes a few weeks. They specialize in S. African seeds and have TONS of different kinds. Sorry don't know their website off the top of my head, but they're listed in Garden Watchdog so you should be able to look them up. There's also B&T World Seeds, I've never bought from them but they have a lot of unusual stuff too. Another foreign one, but they'll ship to the US. Top Tropicals (http://www.toptropicals.com) is a great source for unusual tropical plants, shipping can be a bit pricey sometimes because the plants are big, they also sell some seeds.
Hi,
I second the comment on Silverhill Seeds, I visited and stayed a short time with the owners on a trip to South Africa in 1993 and can say that Rod and Rachel are both knowledgable, enthusiastic about what they do, and have seeds of so many cool plants that otherwise would never see the light of day outside their home ranges. One of the images that sticks in my mind is that every time they pulled the "bakkie" (SUV over here) out of the driveway, the tops of the many flowers in the middle of the driveway (the wheels rested on concrete strips but the middle of the driveway was gravel and dirt--and they threw leftovers from seed cleaning onto it) would bob up and down after the bakkie passed over them.
Other great sources I've used for a variety of rare seeds include Chilterns and Plant World in England; and JL Hudson, Alplains, and Gardens North (Canada) in the USA/Canada. I'd also agree with the above comment on joining the NARGS--the seedlist is amazing.
On ebay their is a gentleman from Chile who sells many native seeds, especially some impossible to find otherwise bulbs. Can't recall the id but just look up rhodophiala or leucocoryne under ebay and you will find him. His name is Osmani, and his seeds germinate well.
Its really fun to be the only one for who knows how many miles around who is growing the endangered Hibiscus fragilis from Mauritus or not one, but three species of Tinnea from southern Africa thanks to the efforts and offerings of these fine seed businesses.
One thing about gardening, it never need be boring, there's always something else new to try!

i know ernie. i am getting a hibiscus fragilis in about 2 weeks.
Osmani's eBay site is http://stores.ebay.com/MAINLY-BULBOUS-GEMS_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm He's also a member of DG (but not a subscriber), the Pacific Bulb Society and the International Bulb Society. His offerings are awesome!

Telos is very reasonably priced and the bulbs you get from them are 3 times the size you get from other companies. I'm not sure where you got the half off info from though--they don't do that. They don't need to.
yeah, deb...........the haywardii and houdyshellii are almost half off right now. traubii is discounted as well i believe.
Telos looks like a great company-they are having some half off sales. The prices are great. Thanks for sharing this with us!
no, traubii isn't discounted just the other 2.
Mamajack--those are the same prices they have had all season. Exactly the same as JUne.
deb, i didn't see telos in june. i was going by there listed price NOW and what THEY said..............they said it's a discount.
been discounted all year.
Top Tropicals isn't overseas; did they ship to you from another country? They're down here in South FL. You can visit their store... I think I will, if just to demand that they ship me my replacement seeds, lol.
One that Dave's doesn't list:
www.hardyplants.com
It's actually a great seed site. Low prices, and there are new seeds added all the time. I think they get new cultivars before some other sites, but they won't overcharge you.
I didn't say Top Tropicals was overseas, that was referring to the other seed sources I was mentioning (Silverhill and B&T World Seeds).
Sorry- thought I saw a colon after "US"!
