Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Feeling rather stupid here.....I've had one in a pot for two years and didn't realize it was hardy! I put it in the garage for winters and am so happy when it survives! LOL Is it really hardy in the ground in 6?? I see that both of your are in 7.

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

yep mine comes back every year and with babies i love it ,it reminds me of the gunnera so you already have one?

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

it looks like a castor bean plant!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Yes. I have one. That worries me because I hear they die after they bloom. LOL Funny to have one plant that I will NOT to bloom. A sweet DGer in Florida mailed me this one. I am a nut for plants with big leaves. I'm just trying to figure out how I missed that I could plant it in the ground! It was probably one of those deals where one site said one thing and another something different so I decided not to risk it.

i have had mine for about 5 uyears now and it hasnet bloomed yet

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I can't keep one alive, and I so love this plant. Don't know if I'm too skimpy with water, butit just too hot here.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Vossner, mine is in about a 5 gallon pot with Promix. I keep it where it gets morning sun but afternoon shade. I've never done anything special with it except water it when it looked dry. Of course it is fairly humid here so your air temperature could be a lot different.

Covington, LA(Zone 8b)

I hope you realize that when it blooms, the wasps will come for miles. Rice paper must be there favorite bloom!! And it has something on its' stems that irritates skin and eyes. And it is very invasive when planted in the ground.

Springville, AL(Zone 7a)

OK...Now I get to look like or sound like an IDIOT!!! I bought some on ebay last year, and had no idea that is was the Rice Paper plant!!!. I think it is not real happy where I planted it...but the guy I got if from was in Oregon!!!
He told me they grow wild there too!! As a matter of fact, he sent me 12 plants, and I shared with my mom, all my sister in laws, and a few other friends!! LOL
If Dave's has a MOST STUPID award.... I guess I would win , HUH???
Thanks so much anyways MORETZ!!!

My mother plant blooms every year and it has yet to die back. This plant reminds me of a passionflower,Babies sometimes show up across the yard. I dont mind them though. I just pull up the unwanted, dig up some for friends. I have not noticed wasps on this plant when it is blooming. Maybe it is because they are always hanging out at my cannas.
The blooms are a bit unique.
My mommy plant is over five feet tall and is probably three years old.

Springville, AL(Zone 7a)

WOW...I wonder if mine will ever get that big?? Now that it has cooled off, It seems to look alot better.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I have to laugh at your earlier post! We've all done it! LOL

Springville, AL(Zone 7a)

It's so sad when you plant and forget it!! Then later , stumble over it!! LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey, we all covet the thing we want. Sometimes we forget we have it and still want it. Other times we forget we want it until we see it somewhere else. You must really like that plant and have for some time! LOL
