I have a small, approx. 2x2 area in the front of my home that is surrounded by cement. I want to plant a ginger there, but I'm worried about the pipes since that's where the water main comes into the house.
I was thinking about planting Hedychium "Elizabeth" there.. Is there any danger that this plant might break a PVC water pipe?
Can ginger roots break pipes?
I've never had this happen and have never heard of anyone else having this experience. Hedychium x 'Elizabeth' is not an overly vigorous grower so I see no problem with it.

Thanks for the info Liz.
