CLOSED: Send Postage or the Ceres Gets Left Out In The Cold

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

I have 3 cactus that have been sort of an experiment. They are all in different pots and I threw them all in one large pot a few years ago and promptly forgot them. I always notice them in the Spring and am surprised they haven't died. Well I noticed them again today and felt sorry for them. I was told they are all Ceres and are about 5 years old.

If anyone wants them you may have them for postage .. otherwise they will remain an experiment to see if cactus can survive in zone 8!

X, you should post to C&S forum too, I can think of a few DGers who do not want you to do that experiment!! As a working scientist, I predict failure, LOL>!

BB, critter is right! This has been going on for years and they are surviving without any intervention. It's amazing. 1 of them always gets a bit frost bit, but the other 2 have no problems at all! Even with a few hours of temps in the 20's.

I did get a bite on these guys, but yesterday when I tried to decant them I discovered they had huge roots growing through their little pots into the big pot. After losing a pint of blood I decided to give up as the only way to extricate them from the big pot was to destroy the pot.
