Are these flowers?

I purchased this Bromeliad a few weeks ago, and just yesterday, I noticed what looks like two flower buds on it. Is this normal? I'm new to Bromeliads, so I don't know much about them.

Yes - those are the flowers of a Vriesea. ...can't tell which one. There are quite a few that look alike. It could be Vriesea carinata but carinata tends to have more red in the center of the spike. Maybe there is at the bottom off the picture.

Thanks Dave. Here's another picture showing the entire plant. Maybe this will help.

It looks like carinata except that there is hardly any spike at all. Hmmmm - not likely.
I'm still stumped. What size is the plant and the inflourescence?

The plant is in a 4 inch pot. The leaves aren't more than 10 inches long; the flower part is about 4 inches high and 2 inches wide.

I'll have to guess that it is a hybrid but no idea which one. There is a trend recently for very compact Vrieseas in Europe where Bromeliads are vastly more popular as decorative plants.
