wild purple plant for ID

Texas/Okla central b, United States(Zone 7b)

growing wild in dry sandy soil...kinda like a tumbleweed with one central root stem that easily detaches.....multiple seedheads........purple now, looks like it may have been green previously. I didn't notice it until the dark purple fall color.......the ID forum thinks it's doddder, but it looks nothing at all like the pictures for dodder in the plantfiles

the plant is covered in seed which easily shake loose...

yes, I think my hubby must have brought it in in some soil from cleaning stables

I have checked several sources it is definitely not dodder

Jackie, was the plant allways that color? or did it have green leaves with pink stems at some point?
I am thinking that if that was the case, it might be some type of Euphorbia that has lost its leaves.
What do you think?
