H. Lucanosa and light

Chesapeake, VA(Zone 7b)

I have had to bring my hoyas in the house because of cool weather. I have put my h. lucanosa in a west facing window. Will this be enough light for it? I moved it because it was getting too cool in my sunroom and the peduncles were turning yellow and falling off. It is on the east side.
Thanks,

I would think so, Dawn.

My lacunosa is in an unobstructed (with the exception of the window not being completely as clean as it could be, lol!) east window, and is *very* happy there.

Really?!? Doesn't the room get fairly dark when the sun moves througout the day? I relly need a light meter because what I think is dark or light is not so

Well, kind of, during the winter, anyway, but mine's been there for 2+ years (I don't take that one outdoors during the summer) and is very happy, even blooming sporadically throughout the year.

Well, maybe they don't need THAT much light then. I may try it next year when I can start it off with a lot of light

Mine is in an east facing window (actually floor to ceiling glass, as it is a sliding glass door) and it is blooming now. I put mine outside under a tree in the summer and it is just covered with blooms. When inside there are less flowers, but it does bloom.

My east window is the standard window and is not really due east but more north east. Ever find yourself worrying more about these plants than you know you should?!?

Dawn,

My lacunosa is in a north east window too....it only receives morning sun in the summer and no sun in the winter, just the light from being by the window....now the sun is pretty much gone until spring again..it has a bloom on it right now...i think it will be fine in that window you have....

No way Sandy! That is good news. Your window sounds like mine then. They must not require as much light in the winter/fall. Not everything requires bright light all the time like AV's I guess. I have a DS70 that is flowering ( counted 7 peduncles) and brought it in too. I come home from work and look to see if they have opened yet. I only have so many places to hang these. My DH just told me (again) I am not allowed to by anymore plants , especially during winter.

Dawn, you will have to create an illusion...sneak the plants in and he will never know!....

I cant say that my lacunosa churns out new peduncles during winter but it does bloom from the existing ones.....as everything else, it slows down too but will be fine by your window i am sure...
