My Ugliest Begonia

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

This is Sylvan Triumph. It's one of the oldest hybrids, so says an old
catalog from Logees. What I don't like about this begonia is it doesn't
want to branch naturally. So I decided I didn't like it
and have mistreated it for years. Anytime a branch got broken, I
would just stick it down in the closest pot, and it roots in no time. Of
course it does, I don't like it.
Imagine my surprisewhen googling another begonia, I found a website
calling this a lovely begonia and charging more for this one than any
other. LOL So now I've repotted the 3 I have to try and see what I've
been missing. It's so pitiful, don't know if there's any hope.

I've got a really old begonia that looks very similar to that, and it gets REAL leggy, but I just whack it down and it comes back out and looks better. I do like the bloom color. I'm sure it will look better soon :-) I'm with you, though -- it is my least favorite. The only thing special and the reason I keep up with it is that it originally came from my grandmother.

Sharon, I will let these 3 grow till spring, then I will prune them back all the way.
Hopefully, I will be pleasantly surprised.

Oh it's a beautiful Begonia !

Violet Treasure, Perhaps if I had taken better care of it, it might have been an
attractive begonia. At least now I am going to try. The Sylvan Triumph pictured
at the website I mentioned was lovely by comparison.
