I too planted a Jackmani Superba, but it was too late to bloom. My Nelly Moser is lovely now, sowing a little wear from last night's hard freeze, but not as bad as you would think. Do say hello to Loamy_Lady for me and compliment her on her lovely clematis. Betty

Now you've done it. I need more clematis in my yard but there is no place to put it. May have to get rid of the wild grape vine to do it but then the birds would kill me. lol. Oh well, will just keep dreaming.

Wild grape? Kill it, Pepper! There are plenty of those for the birds. If you still feel guilty, put up a bird-feeder stake and grow a nice clematis up it, too... Or, just grow a clematis with the wild grape. Up your roses, trees, house. Vines are the most efficient space-users. 'Loamy_Lady' has them anywhere and everywhere, and still ahs space on her small downtown lot. And all the while, still tasteful.

Wild grape is everywhere and I can't kill it because my grandma uses the vines for wreaths. It is also holding up the fence. Sorry. LOL. I never thought about growing the clematis with the grape. I'll try that in the spring. My grandma has some that I can get cuttings off of. I do have one clematis but it is a late bloomer with small white flowers. Have it growing on an old clothesline pole. Have another pole that needs a vine also but it is in complete shade under a walnut tree and another tree. Plus shade from a shed.
