Do we have any idea of how many people will attend? It would help in knowing how much food to bring.
Since we will be coming a day early, we will likely purchase some pumpkin pies on the morning of the 4th.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Not poisonous is a good start, mamajack!!! LOLOL

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Pat, it is a full kitchen that we have access to, so it should have an oven if you wanted to use it.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Sheila. I knew there was a kitchen, but I did not remember if there was an oven. That's almost a "duh," isn't it?

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8b)

There sure is an oven.

I think there was also some of those outdoor grills around- anyone remember that?

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

This site map shows barbecue pits at the end of the kitchen. It looks like they open to the inside. http://www.cstx.gov/docs/southwood_pavilion.pdf

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh, good job, Pat! I was looking at old pictures trying to spot grills behind people, but I wasn't seeing any. I didn't think of looking at the map! :-)

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8b)

I don't recall them opening to the inside, but I was pretty sure that they were behind (or to the right beside) the kitchen.

Memory gets fuzzy, ya know :)

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

My sister and I will be bringing a big pot of soup (with bowls and spoons, too)

Houston, TX(Zone 8b)

I'll load up the ice chest full of water, juice, soda, etc. I'll try to remember to throw a couple of trash bags in the trunk of the car too.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

I will bring charcoal, lighter fluid and stuff to make fajitas. I will bring chicken and beef, bell peppers and onions, tortillas and cheese. I won't have enough fajitas to feed everyone because there will be other stuff, but will bring some chicken and beef. Also, will bring Dish Detergent and hand soap, a roll of paper towels.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh - wow Ms merae - if the avocadoes are any good, I'll bring some guacamole and chips! I can also bring some chicken to add to the grill. If the avocadoes aren't any good, I'll make a pot of chili. Hope Sam's avocadoes are good!

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

Do we need to bring chairs......in case some of us want to sit?

Ann

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

There are picnic tables with benches there. Bring a chair if you need back support. :-)

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

Thx, Marylyn. I need all the support I can get..... :>)))

Here is a picture I took at the RU in April. It will give you some idea how roomy the pavillion was. The tables are permannently in place and loads of them. Through the door at the back there are restrooms, and kitchen area. What this picture shows is only a fourth of the size. There are loads of parking right in front also, with easy unloading! Wonderful place!!

Sheila, do you know who invited the young man on the left of the pix? I know he is not a DGer but was there as a guest of a DGer. He & his young wife had some wonderful plants!!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I had invited them, it is Andy and his DW was Thuy. I had been to several local plant swaps and you are right, they had wonderful plants. They aren't DG subscribers, not sure why, but do get on Garden Web and find out about swaps through other people. That may be the last one they do for a while though because they moved about that time, but the old brain can't remember where. I had contacted Trish and made sure they could attend the RU beforehand, when they asked me about coming.
It was nice to see you last month at Sylvia's, I hope they have a Spring RU in CS next year. If so I will see you at that one.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm really looking forward to this RU. Missed the one in the spring. I'll bring some corn dip and chips.

Amelia
