Surviving the freeze

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I was afraid that the freeze got the brugs last night but it appears they are safe for a little while longer. Here's a white that I checked on this morning. Really smells good. The white looks pinkins yellow but it really is snow white. I guess the camera is picking up reflections from the sun off the bloom.

I'm glad that beauty survived. Seems like it is getting cold a little early.

Hey Sharon, The weather report yesterday was that we normally have our first freeze between Nov. 10-15. I always date pictures when I saved them in the spring and again in the fall and I had many that I dated in November of last year. Just a lot of buds still hanging getting ready to open. I think they are alright down to about 27-28 degrees.

We did get frost, 80 miles, or more, north of you, on the handrails of our deck. Our oaks offer some protection but I don't know about last night. The brugs looked fine this morning, but it was dark when I left the house.

well, if last night didn't do it for us, tonight may!! Will be down in that 27-28 range! ........... and yes, very early for a frost- a nearby city broke a record low!

Guess I might want to put my mulch on extra thick this year- I have 15 brugs in the ground, and they come back every year.

Hi Brenda, I only saw frost on top of my son's truck that was parked in the yard not under any trees. Hope things don't get to bad tonight. I did put a black plastic bag over Tiara because she had two buds, one almost ready to open and I didn't want to lost them before they opened.

They say newspaper or cloth will offer more protection than plastic. Don't have any proof of that, it's just what I've heard others in colder climates say. :-)
