Some cuttings for 7 Newbees:

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

Fall is here, and my in ground Brugs are putting out their last flushes; this picture is 7am in the back yard this morning - the sasanquas are in full competition.
I'll be taking cuttings in the next week or so; yesterday I readied my greenhouse for the big invasion of 30 dug up mature plants, and some favorite cuttings.
Please sign up below, and I'll send 4 or 5 different cuttings to the first seven names.
We'll have Pink Beauty, Rosamond, Orange Custard (a 3' bushy orange) a few Chas Grimaldi, Cupid's Blush, a few Maya and Sauvs white, and some unamed oranges (Bert/EV).

Here is another in ground Brug - Cupid's Blush. even tho I wrap it in Bubblewrap, and a cover of mulch up to 2ft, it will die back all the way to the ground. In June it will send up new growth, but its cuttings will be much further along, and hopefully will have blooms by July.

Pollygardening: I became a subscribing member of DG earlier this year and perhaps I could/would be considered a "newbie" in your terms. If I promise to give "them" a good home could I qualify for some cuttings???

Thank you, in advance, for your consideration!!!

Does your Cupid's Blush come back well and give you some good flushes? I am leaving some in the ground and while I know they will return wondering if they will do anything.

I just received amy first brug cutting from someone else today and wanted to know the best way to root it. I will be rooting in my atrium with skylights and temps will be about 70 or so all the time... maybe a little higher when I start using heat in the house. Any suggestions would be wonderful. Sorry I missed the offer for a selection of cuttings... I love anything that has a scent and is GREEN!!! Living in West Texas, you learn to really appreciate green things.

I fill lg canning jars about 1/3 with water (to which i've added 1 TBL H202 per gallon.) I insert 1/3 toothpick in the bottom of the cutting to keep it off the jar bottom. Change your water at least once a week - more if it becomes cloudy. (You can rinse off the cutting gently if it becomes greenish - but you want to avoid that by changing the water frquently enough.) You can pot it anytime after you see roots - Larger cuttings receive one gallon containers with a mixture of 1/2 potting soil and 1/2 compost (if you have it).

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

I've sent D-mails to the seven first responders of my cutting offer; please be sure I have your address.

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

Shawdowgirl, my outside Cupid's Blush came back beautiful and strong. But because it doesn't send up shoots until June, it was August before it made a first flush . That's why I said cuttings (potted after showing roots) will bloom in July, and the mature plants I overwinter inside will bloom as early as June.

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

Not a newbie for sure but would be to brugs!

Oh, I missed this.............. :-(

I have just one brug, which I got from Park's this year. It's in my basement for the winter. Of course, it's small, but I hope it makes it through the winter. It's Cherub, but you couldn't prove it by me, as it didn't grow much this summer, and has never bloomed.

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

It looks like it's going to be next Monday before I mail the Brug cuttings off to the folks I promised - my dtr came from out of town yesterday, and today I'm working the polls. Tomorrow, I'm afraid, is too late into the week to chance any deliveries making it by Fiday.
So -- look for your cuttings Weds or Thurs next week.

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

Tomorrow I plan to mail cuttings to Indiana lily,Silver Kitty,BabsAdventure,Guardian Girl, Farmpickle, Heavenscent,JanLynn,Vizz8, FishKnees and Big Bubbles - don't know how the list grew to 10, but I guess i can't count! I spent most of today wrapping and labeling your cuttings, so now if the weather is totally unacceptable for mailing tomorrow for your destination, please let me know! Frozen cuttings are not going to succeed!

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

Those of you who receive Orange Custard, with a * , need to know that it is my name for the seedling I grew, and is not registered or officially regognized.
It is a multiblooming bush type Brug with myriad smaller blooms; hearty and satisfactory.

Good Morning Polly!

I set you a D-Mail with the mailing addy. I am in the exchange but I gave you my work addy to send the cuttings to due to the yucky weather in my area.

Thank you and have a good day!

Jan

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Polly, your yard is just so beautiful. What nice pictures you have of it.

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

Always a pleasure to hear from Kell - kind words are even sweeter!
I mailed out the ten packages yesterday - it's easier to make promises than to deliver, but the job is fini!
It might not hurt to make a fresh 1/2" cut at the bottom of the cutting before you insert the toothpick if it looks brownish and is a long one.
Let me know arrival and condition.

(Jan) So Milw, WI(Zone 5b)

Polly,

Rec'd my pkg. this morning...thank you!!! Check is in the mail.

Jan

Tacoma, WA(Zone 8a)

Got em, thanks so much. They are in great shape. Money is in mail tomorrow.

Viv

Phoenix, AZ

WOOOOO! HOOOOO! Got my package! The cuttings are really nice! Got your check ready, will go out in the a.m.
Thanks again for your generosity! I know it was a lot of work to organize and pack all the cuttings :)

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Ok, I'm guessing the packages were sent with delivery confirmation? If so, my package is sitting at the post office. If not, oops, it's from someone else. For some reason they won't deliver packages with delivery confirmation unless I'm at home. Does anyone else run into that?

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Got Mine today...... = )

They look GREAT.

Thanks so much.

Will a check do?

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

In payment for the postage on your cuttings, you can send check or concealed cash, whatever is easier.
I'm so glad they are arriving in good condition.

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Polly,
I just picked my package up from the post office first thing this morning, and of course, had to open it when I got to work (couldn't let the cuttings sit in the car all day!).

Thank you so much!! The cuttings are in great shape, and what a wonderful selection. I'll definitely be posting pictures next spring!!

I am sending your check out to you now, hopefully you'll get it by the weekend.

Again, thanks!!

Tampa, FL
