Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

we are getting a well needed break from the rain here..a gentle rain falling. Should cool things down a bit. Ribbitcats would love our weather...lol..see ya, Lisa

This weather, i'm afraid to say is not for me. Don't get me wrong, I like the sunshine, but i'm not a "Heat-Freak". Little old Daisy is wilting I'm sorry to say.
But it has inspired me with regard to my garden. I have a section of white gravel, which is boarded off with a rosemerry hedge. My origional plan was to make it a tropical type look. But after 12 months of pure letdown, i have decided to go with the flow, and turn it into a hot dry bed. Yucca's, agaves, crocossmia, grasses that kind of thing, and that was what I was doing at 8.30am this morning. When it got to 10am, when the heat got too much and i was about to collapse, I decided to call it a day. So thats been my day sort off, minus the dull bits!

My plants look exhausted with the heat. They do not look like happy plants. Will see if I can water them again.

Daisy - hot, hot, hot has to mean convolvolus cneorum (I think that's how it's spelt). It is a lovely plant and my all time favourite for those dry situations. Grey leaves and white flowers that go on and on and on. Alan, how hot is hot? Sounds as though you are enjoying it though. Love to Viv!! Northerner put a beach umbrella over the plants...lol!! Sorry don't mean to joke, it's no joking matter!! The roses I planted at the front of the porch will have to be moved. The sun in the west is merciless!! Lillith stop rushing around and carry an ice pack with you :-) Yes, Lisa we also received the welcoming rain and it was gentle, but persistent.

Louisa, its very hot i hate it, but having a penquin stay with you isnt that much fun LOL, she still thinks its only just warm enough, i sit here melting and she is putting on a fleece.

Hmmmmmm mustn't have been paying enough attention in class. Penguin?
Oh pass me a grape Balulah. I'm melting.

Durham, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

sorry muddled message from friend - apparently it's going to be 'mediterranean weather' for the next two weeks

lil @>--->--->-------

Middlesbrough, United Kingdom

Whew! It's hot!!! And the computer makes even more heat. My plants are looking dry and parched. watered them last night but think I'll loose some of them.
Some of my hardy annuals are just about done down. I'm going to try and yank some of them out.
There's seeds from some of them. Foxgloves and opium poppies. Can't offer opium poppies to the States because of their strict government rules. But if anyone in the uk would like some, please email me your addy and I'll see what I can do. Just self-seeded, and opium poppies don't stay very true anyway, so I gather.
Going to have another drink. glug glug glug...

Well would you believe that it is 'cool' here!! Where did the summer go?? I don't care I love 60s in July - usually our hottest month. We have rain, rain, rain and cool!! It's wonderful. And you know what - it will make it's way over to you shortly, so hang in there. Get out the ice cubes, find a good book and relax!! Keep out of the sun, don't go to work, don't do gardening and stay off the computer!!! LOL!! Thinking of you all :-)

Well so much for the two weeks theory, its cloudy dullish and mercifully cool again, love it.

Very Hot and Dry here in Texas. Big cracks in the yard and everything wilting, including my. Need a translater pretty soon if the cracks get any bigger so I will be able to understand what the Chinese are saying. .....LOL Just don't drop the car keys, or you'll never get em again if they fall into one of these cracks. Got The Grand Canyon here in Texas.

Lol coco, doesnt stop raining long enough to get like that here, but it must be heart breaking to have your garden and plants destroyed by it, sounds like a mess right now.

Yah...if these here cracks get any bigger my plants will be in someones Chinese Garden......and not about to go after them.>>>>>>>>>>>LOL

coco, Look on the bright side, at least you would get some bamboo and maybe a panda in trade lol.

Hey, that's right. Could use some bamboo to put up for some of these vines that I have and I luv Panda bears. Guess it can't be all bad. Lets see.....my plants for bamboo and panda's..........na. Would rather have my plants. Too much work went into them to keep them alive.

We have fog this morning - thick fog!!! Humidity 100%!! So after the lovely cooldown of 60s during the day (very unusual for this time of year) and that welcoming 3 days of rain - comes the humidity and I imagine temps are going to soar again. I don't think I could live in Texas CoCo because I need 'green' and the gardening conditions sound so harsh. I am sorry your garden is suffering! I suppose when the rains do arrive for you they will be pretty torrential! Hey Alan, spoke to my mum on the phone yesterday, poor thing - still suffering after her fall!! She said it was too hot for her to go outside. In her words - It's Hot! Hot! Hot! God bless her poor darling!

Durham, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

i got up at 10 am today and it was awful, overcast, cold and it had rained during the night (saved me watering heehee!!), but at about 12 midday it brightened up, sun came out and was really warm. Looks beautiful right now, i should go out for a bit, it's about 7pm here atm, just nice to sit and smell the flowers.
