Today I met, liked, and bought a ten-year-old solid black APHA mare. She is friendly, calm, and rides well. She does not neck rein, but I will start working on that next week when she arrives. I have never ridden two-handed, so it was a bit awkward when I rode her today. My problem, not hers. I'm not giving up on Leo, but I will feel safe on this one and can go to the pasture and check and move cattle now.
Her name is lousy, but she has registered offspring and it can not be changed. Who would stick a pretty filly with a name like Not Enough to Pass. It's not her fault she has no spots! The man who has owned her the last four years calls her Blacky. I've got to do better than that.
Here's a photo of her with the previous owner's grandchildren.
