Can freesia bulbs be chilled and potted later or chilled and forced in water? I ended up with 36 bulbs and don't have the space in my fridge for 6 6 inch pots of freesia so I'm open to any suggestions anyone might have.
Forcing Freesia
"FREESIAS AND TAZETTA NARCISSUS (PAPER WHITES) technically do not need chilling, but they do need cool night temperatures and plenty of time to root before they flower. They're powerfully fragrant.
Freesia corms take about 14 weeks from planting to bloom. Plant corms in a container filled with potting soil or sand, growing them in a spot that has daytime sun and nighttime temperatures in the 40s. ".

This is my second year with my freesias (the ones i got from Lowes).. they are now coming out and I'm pretty sure I will have them blooming by February. The first time I planted them was October 2004 and was surprised on how easy they are to grow. Needless to say , i bought more the following year and more this year...lol.... I know they may multiply but I just cant get enough of these lovely scented blooms. This time though I bought online and got bigger corms... i hope they will give me bigger blooms too...I cant wait for spring!!! I guess I am quite lucky as I am in the right zone to grow them on the ground without any protection. We get freezes here too but not for long and so far haven't had any problem with them not coming out...
