This plant was given the name Variegated Zig Zag or Devil's backbone plant....I can't find a listing under either of those names in the plantfiles. Anyone know what the "real" name is for this? Suposedly has little red flowers. Thanks for any help!!

The PlantFiles has been having some problems lately, but if you use the Advanced Search, it seems to work...so far. ; )

Your welcome Chantell.
I know it is also called redbird cactus. I have the solid green.
Here is what I found .
Redbird flower
With its zigzaggging stems and white or pink variegated foliage, this cultivar makes a fine pot plant. Tiny greenish flowersand red to yellow bracts appear near the stem tips from summer to autumn. The small fruit are green. The plant dislike harsh sun and cold, damp condition.

God bless you, Debbie...I was beginning to feel "search" challenged...LOL!!!

Patti - I think I NEED that book...great info!!!

Jesse - actually, truth be known I found it on ebay....but not terribly fond of the price for 3 rooted stalks...I may (now that I have the name) do some further searching....love those colors - don't you?

Ah thanks...but I didn't end up bidding on it...seemed too pricey for just 3 rooted sections and then s/h on top of it. I'm going to see if I can find it else-where.

Hello everyone
I have a variegated pedilanthus tilthymaloide since 1992 . It is very easy to keep , i let it dry out between watering and if it get some direct sun it the leaves gets variegated with pink but not as much as on your photo .
I have been taking cuttings from it for the last 12 years and it is about 2.5 feet tall now . I do not root them like other succulent plants meaning that i let the cuttings air dry for a few days before planting them , that doesn't work with the pedilanthus , i have to cut ant plant right after, if not the cutting doesn't survive a day on the counter . It is a really nice plant to have and so easy to care for .
Bye bye for now

Chantell,
It's in the Euphorbia family with growing requirements similar to those for crown-of -thorns.
