If brug A and brug B get together and have a pod producing seedling C which blooms and produces a pod can A or B be the Daddy? or does it have to be another brug? Just curious as "Winnie" looks to have a pod. Her Mom and who I *think* might be Dad were blooming at the same time, but so were others.
Brug "parenting" question 101
Sure Ginger, any brug can be the dad except a genetically identical one. Only the Arborea family seems to self. Though I have read on here that a very few, I think it was Dr. Seuss was one, can self but am not sure that is true at all.
You can cross pod mates too! All will be somewhat genetically different than their sibs. I guess there could be a few identical twins/triplets, but haven't heard about those yet. I would think you would need to genetically test them to be sure and that would be expensive. Another way is to cross pollinate between the 2 brugs a lot, and see if any take. You would have to do enough and some controls also just to make sure you are just not failing due to another reason though.
Thanks Kell...I haven't done any pollinating myself... mother nature has done it for me. And a rather good job she's done this year! LOL The postmistress and I are friends and she actually said I could put a plant or 2 in the post office for the winter. How 'bout them apples!?
I think sometimes mother nature knows best Ginger so you may luck out big time!! You must live in a small and friendly very town.
Yep...small town...same one as Brenda (Seed_Sprout)
Well shoot girl, go send your bees over there for some pollen fast.
LOL !!!
