I think this is a nettle, certainly a weed but it is smooth and not fuzzy. Anyone?
What is this plant and does it attract any butterflies?
Looks like a dandelion from here Karen
:oD
See if this matches your plant:

Many BFs like the nectar from this, it is a broadleaf weed, and it is edible.
OK, so we had dandelion in Massachusetts. Rhetorical question: How dumb can I get?
Thanks! Karen
your very welcome, and get a second opinion..
anyone else?
Deb
I think it is a dandilion too... sometimes its had to tell with just one leaf, you are not dumb.
And thanks for the smile, 'cuz its something that I would do...
Well, here's the thing. I carefully dug it up and potted it up and have been nurturing it like it is some kind of valuable thing....my neighbors try to get rid of theirs. :-)
oh, man am I laughing...
LOL! Now this is why I like the second opinion JPW
A weed is something ya don't want. and you want that one, so it is a very special plant. Sows itself on the wind...and has a lot of nutritional value too. you can try the greens mixed in with your salads, on sandwiches and cooked like Spinach.
You are very sweet and ya make me laugh too, karen!!
What's not to love about you girl?
:oD
And you forgot to mention the beautiful yellow flower of this plant.
Besides the self sowing and the salad ingredients, the spring blooming yellow flowers contrast nicely in a green lawn which fondly reminds me of my favorite football team (that hasn't showed up to play football yet this year).

LOL!
When I lived in Michigan, dandelions were the first sign of spring. So they have a dear spot in my heart. *Not* that I try to propogate them, or anything, but I don't have any deep disdain for them.
Every spring one part of my backyard lawn is overtaken with wild Primrose. I can't bring myself to use weed killers or pre-emergents on it. It's simply too pretty. And so might be the case with your dandelion.
Carla
Sob, I have just killed my one and only dandelion. RIP
Is it true that dandelions will choke out other plants in the garden? Is that why they are considered weeds?
They are very pretty though.
Maureen
ROTFLMBO! You are TOO FUNNY, Karen!!! :-D :-D :-D
There there (((Karen))).. rememer those thistles will have your whole yard choked out ..ya did what ya had to do.... (bows her head,,, snif snif)
So now I am still searching for a nettle. I did have one and transplanted it, but it died. Can you imagine, I do just fine with plants, but the weeds just don't make it.
