This is a baby from one of the Milky Way Trail leaves that you sent and although the photo isn't the best in the upper RT you can see a bud! I am so excited.

Good growing, April! Those are vigorous little leaf babies! You're going to love Milky Way Trail... such a cutie, whether or not it's in bloom. :-)

Hey April,

Your Milky Way Trail looks so much nicer than mine....I think I am going to cut the crown out and wait for suckers to form and then get a nice looking sucker planted.

WOW April l@@K all your Adorable babies great growing ! The best plants you can ever have are the ones you grow from a leaf or small baby this way not only is it fun ! watching them grow but they adapt easier to their new home. Though I think your weather is a lot like ours.
Milky Way Trail is one of the best. A great little weed grower , a delight and once she starts blooming for you she will never stop :))
Thanks for sharing your green thumbs !

Thanks all.

I couldn't believe how quickly some of my leaves made babies- some are so quick, others slow, but several of my Russians now have small little ears sticking up! Milky Way Trail was so fast! I have so many babies that I am begining to feel like the "old woman who lived in the shoe, she had so many babies she didn't know what to do!"
LOL.

Hey April, if you have some slow to root leaves, sometimes trimming will get them started. Be sure to sterilize your equipment before you start. I cut about 1/3 of the leaf at an angle.

Thanks, will give it a try!

Hey Susan,

That works everytime for me...I do it with really big leaves that take up too much room but I also spray the leaf with Dithane which is a great fungicide and it works great!

I have one Buckeye that I have had down since April 29 and it isn't doing anything so I remember on another list I am on...one of the fellows said to get it to smarten up....just rap the container with the leaf on a hard surface so it jars it into getting down to business.....I have tried it with this one so will see!

April another great trick always worked for me . I gave them a fish emolsion drink one . If I did not have I gave them VF-11 drink and put them so close to the light they love it. On Rob's when he shows doing leaves he cuts the top off of all his. Worth a try some thousands I did and some I did not just their all different but I know he says he feeds his and it sure gave mine a boost with close light ! If you have time you can play around ! If not the babies will be coming hopping along in no time !

Thanks for all the info! I have cut some leaves, when they are too large to fit in the cup, like Joanne; a few I have fed fish emulsion or seaweed & occassionally the leaves get a bit of super thrive. Whatever works!

Another thing I have just tried recently with leaves is feeding them with KLN by Dyna-Gro and I have had babies in about a month which is something for me because they normally take 6-8 weeks....mostly 8 weeks. I also dip my petioles in a product called Pyrosol....so I am not sure which one does it but anyway that is what I have been using lately and it is working great so far.

Joanne, thanks for the info. What is Pyrosol? Earlier this year I bought some leaves from Lynn Lombard and she emailed and asked if I wanted her to dip the petioles in something- she made it sound good but I can't recall the name- anyway I said yes and it was my feeling that those leaves produces leaves sooner than others I'd put down w/o it. I believe she said it would induce callus production, but who knows if I am remembering correctly.

Is it like this ?

So much stuff out there. I know Fay would dip her leaves in I think something like what your all talking about she said it also keep fungus and such .. but I always re-cut the stem to the way I liked anyways.
I bought some stuff from Steve one time but after reading the package I was afraid to use it.
) always read small print)
It's fun to try new ways God only knows we all have ! But I always went back to the basic !

Yes that is the right stuff. I bought mine here in Canada from Bustan in Ontario but that is the same thing only bigger container. You don't need much, just dip and insert into your soil.

Very interesting. Don't know if this is what Lynn used, but it really made a difference in how quickly they showed little leaves and how well the leaf held up during the time it took to root and produce leaves.
