Nan, i see you're attracted to variegated plants too! this one puts me in the mind of your new Dieffenbachia. What was it's name again? You could email Ooojen(somewhere around one of these forums!). I t hink she has one or had one and may be able to point you in the right direction.

Nan
I was only able to find wholesale sellers
http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=ytff1-&p=Homalomena%20selby&ei=UTF-8
but if you call a wholesaler they will sometimes tell you where there last shipment went to for retail purchases.

Same here...only wholesalers, celt...thanks for looking, and I might try that!

GH....I had one myself 3 years ago...turned up at a greenhouse in a town about 70 miles from here.
That supermarket dieff was not ID'd on the tag....wondering if it is, indeed, 'Camouflage'.
Ooojen (on GW) and I go way back, and I'm wondering if she got hers from the same gh where I got mine, as we're about the same distance, just from different directions....but I just might shoot her an email and ask, now that you mention it....thanks for the idea!

I was hoping to find an online source for a single plant....:(

Nan, check your local Lowes or Home Depot. Ive seen it at both.
This is actually Homalomena erythropus.

Thanks, MIchaelSC...I *knew* I was due for a trip there.....my luck, though...they'll all be near death, lol!
Thanks for the correction on the name, as well.

MichaelSC just a question. I just purchased a Homalomena and with the help of Nan I was able to ID it. I havnt seen a pic of "erythropus" (and probrably didnt look at any descriptions to see what differences there are), but, what is the differnce between the two? Ive mostly seen the Selby listed in any place with pics but the erythropus is hard to locate any info on and no pics. Or is the Selby they show in the first link misnamed?

In one of the last Aroideana volumes, (maybe 2005?) there is a description and image of this Homalomena. It is a subspecies found in Costa Rica, Panama and possibly Colombia (cant remember exactly and not sure of the subspecies name.) If you look at the images it is exactly the plant being sold as Homalomena "Selby". Im guessing it was incorrectly given that name because the original plant came from Selby Botanical Gardens in Florida but this is a guess.

Thank you!
That makes sense on how it could be misnamed but now I can put in a tag with the correct name on it. I wish my library here was bigger so I could find more info books. Unfortunatly they have a very small selection of plant books and most of them are about landscaping or how to decorate your home with plants. I think Im going to have to have a talk with the librarian and see if they can get more books in on plant ID and research material.

Any luck on finding one Nan?
