Monarchs have arrived in Natalia Texas!

Natalia, TX(Zone 8b)

Last spring I planted a few of their favorites, scarlet milkweed, butterfly bush and zinnias. I've seen a definate increase in the number of butterflies all summer. Yesterday was the day, hundreds maybe thousands of monarchs swormed the backyard, they were sitting on the leaves in the trees, there was one on just about every flower I have. I got a few pictures and made a slide show through Photobucket..click this link to see them, they are beautiful! http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y9/dosmiller/monarchs/?action=view¤t=1161131917.pbw

It was truly a blessing to have them honor my backyard.

I haven't seen monarchs here before this year. Today I counted 6 on my butterfly bush. Next year I'm planting milkweed and maybe they will come back. Becky

Awesome to see something like that. I only see that many when I am raising and releasing them. Though I always have one or two that hang around in my garden at any given time. Planting host plants really does the trick!

Really breathtaking Maddie!

I have been watching them come through Fort Worth too! Not that many at once though. I'm still looking up!

Oh, you are SO lucky!! An honor indeed!!

Last week there were a few days when I could tell that more were coming because I had between 20-30 for a couple of days. Then it rained and got a little cooler and as I figured, it helped push them on past me. :( I'm still seeing several but not near what I had before the cold spell.
