Can a young rooster's "technique" improve?

Shenandoah Valley, VA(Zone 6b)

I have a light Brahma I'd like to keep, but his first attempts at covering have torn up the backs of my hens. I don't know if this will continue, or if he might get the hang of things better. I've taken the hurt hen away, but am hoping the cockerel will clean up his act. Anyone have any insight?

In my experience, yes, they learn some manners with age.

That's good to know. I guess I'm going to have to go out there with a chair and book and keep an eye on who's doing what for a while.

Thanks, undercoverowl.

Ha ha.......it's usually so quick, you might miss it all during an interesting paragraph.

Seems like my young roos have the same problem. No class at all. Buncha dorks.

I just gave several roosters away last week, so thank goodness for the hens, it's a little more peaceful in the pen these days.
