What's still blooming ...

Shelton, WA(Zone 8a)

... in your yard?

I've never had much luck with roses, but the one planted by our property's previous owner seems to do quite well. It's not really planted in a good place (which I hope to remedy before next year's growing season) and the deer love to help prune it, but it has given several nice blooms this year.

wow MzW - that second photo looks so lifelike, and the color is fabulous!
I think I was at work too long - I can smell the rose!
Which rose is this?
Deer are so helpful - don't you wish they would dig beds & weed for you, too? :O) Katye

Unfortunately I have no idea what name to give this rose. It was here when I moved in, and I haven't seen any tag on it.

It does seem to propagate well though. I did some trimming in the spring and just tossed a few canes on the ground. Some time later I happened to partially cover them with some fill dirt and was very surprised to see several leaf buds develop into small plants over the summer! I don't know what's going to survive to adulthood yet, but I may have 2 or 3 new bushes next year. :-)

I still got dahlias blooming their heads off!
Good old 'Skywalker'. Love this plant.

My Mom's red geranium plant. I brought it back from Bellingham this past summer since my Mom hadn't taken care of it since my Dad died earlier in the summer and it was totally dead.
I revived it nicely as you can see.

My Canna Tropicannas! Still blooming like crazy. Also the red geraniums, and the marigolds.

My back lawn.
I planted it in September and it took its sweet time coming up. There are some bare spots but hope with time it will fill in with some rain!

My Callibrachoa, Zinnias, Cuphea, Salvias - all loving this cooler weather until the last couple nights.
The Crape Myrtles, Choisya, Callicarpa, Asters, Roses, Lavatera & Nicotiana Silvestris are still going strong. They are not coming in, even for a visit.
My Morning Glory 'Grandpa Ott's' has miniature flowers - but intensly colored.
A few of my Rhodies have rebloomed & so has Viburnum Bodnantense.
Everything seemed to rejuvenate a few weeks back - looking better, but not for much longer.
I just want to bring it all in!

Oh, I forgot! Some of my daylilies are still putting out flowers every few days, and the ornamental strawberries never seem to quit until the plants turn to mush in mid-winter.

what's still blooming...my CLEMATIS!

Issaquah, WA(Zone 7a)

dahlias, dahlias, dahlias, colchicum I received and planted about 3 weeks ago, monkshood, delphinium, fading flopping asters, boltonia and that's all besides weeds.

Daisyruffles, If I'd had known you had that much flat, sunny back yard available for dahlias, I'd have been razzing you all summer! What are you going to use it for: soccer?

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

LOL Annie, LOL
Good thing I didn't post a pic of my backyard earlier then, hehehehe

I just can't afford the water bill plus I have no water pressure even with drip irrigation so.............. I can't do more flower beds. Would love to tho.

Matter in fact, I love soccer. Used to play it in college and coached my kids for years. So there! Good choice of game for grass, LOL

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

I was thinking the same thing about all that grass, Carol!! Why in the world would you plant all that when there are dahlias to be grown???? LOL But I do understand about the water issue. I think we have the highest water prices in the state!!

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Think???
I know we do!!! According to the newspaper!!!
Even higher than Portland, largest city in the state!!!

But seriously, I would love to plant more dahlias!

Well, you never know what the future holds so........................... time can change along with land....................LOL

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Well, I thought I had heard that somewhere, but I wasn't sure so that's why I said I "think" we do. LOL

Very pretty malvia!

Daisyruffles, are you doing something to protect begonia against powdery meldew? I had such a pretty huge pot this year and powdery meldew ate it, i sprayed with baking soda but it did not help. The same now is happening with dahlias. They are still in blow, but leaves are white.

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

So far my begonias don't have pow. mild. and never have had p.m. I have been lucky for that
But some of my dahlias do. I don't do anything at this time of the year for it. Is too late anyways. But I have heard that a mix of water and milk can help get rid of it.
Also don't water at nite time. Water in the morning will help too.
