Both are really pretty. My B-man Cosimo has the same bloom as the Splatter Kake and I love the color and streaks.

How nice to see some sun. And your plant shelves are perfect in that window. I don't think I've ever seen Tipt, and I love it. Do you remember where you ordered it from?

Elkins, AR(Zone 6b)

I purchased Tipt on Ebay about a month and a half ago The sellers id was destech. He has a Tipt now on auction, ending Oct.20th.I have posed the URL to it. I also just put some leaves down of Tipt, so I will have some to trade in the spring ;0)

Violet_grower......

Loved the pic of your shelves !!! It brought a tear to my eye, made me think of my grandmother. She passed some years ago but always had violets on her kitchen windowsills. Brought back very sweet memories!!!

Now I think I should get myself a violet so I can think about her more often !!

Thankyou =0) =0) =0)

Beautiful violet_grower!! It's been a dark, rainy day here today and although we needed the rain, the sunshine glow on your violets is especially welcome.

Lindenhurst, NY

Wow, Tipt is gorgeous. Your plant shelf window looks so pretty. I'm going to look at ebay to see what tipt is going for. I love that bright vivid color. We have a rainy day here, so this is a bright spot.

love it all ! Great growing ! Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the link to ebay. Although I've never bid on anything on that site, I may have to try it this time. That violet is so beautiful because it's a vintage Tinari hybrid amd it's very hard to find.

Silver Spring, MD

Splatter Cake is gorgeous. Great stands. Hurray, Sunshine!!!!

Julie Hi Nice to see you ! Those wonderful memories of Grandma's Violet shelves are heavenly ! The only plant I still have of my Nanna's though not an AV is my Night Blooming Cerus plant. She's the Queen of the Night We love her ! But I will always remeber my Nanna's Violet shelves they were beautiful !
Yes you need to get yourself a pretty blooming African violet plant. Selective Gardner's on line sell the Optimaras all in bloom ! And sometimes you can find nice big blooming plants at Lowes or HD and other area stores !
Wel-Come to our wonderful AV Gesneriad group :))

Elkins, AR(Zone 6b)

Thanks Everyone!!
Hi Julie..I agree with Violet_Treasure...you should get a violet....and like lay's potato chips..you just cant have one!A few of my violets are very sentimental, as my mother purchased several for me before she passed away last month. My violets give me great enjoyment and comfort.I am so happy my violets gave you some great memories of your grandmother ;0)
Susan..I have bought a few violets from that ebay seller. I have never had a problem with destech and his/her violets are always nice. If you dont buy a Tipt from them, I should have a plantlet of Tipt in the spring! I have the most enjoyment hunting for the "hard to find" violets. I prefer vintage and rare ones because they are so much of a challenge to find and when I do find one its like finding a treasure! ;0) So far I now have found 14 violets that are on the AVSA most wanted list!
lovesdaylilies... I waited for my Splatter Kake to bloom...and after a month of waiting it just started producing buds...ALOT of them and "poof" they were there and it doesnt seem to quit blooming. I just love the splashes of color! The violet you mention is called Pow Wow.. and its one of my favorite ones. Heres a picture of it

Violet_grower I sent you a dmail. And - on the bottom shelf who are the blue/purple one on the right and the white one in the middle?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Beautiful plants ! Diane Splatter Kate ( I got one from VG) and
B-man Cosimo fantasy bloomers ! I love them. Lot's of times they Sport into Chimerias. I know my B-man's gave me hugh non-stop bouquets of lush fantsy flowers. I'm pretty sure I'd have to check the list Splatter Kate has Sproted to a few other named Av's . One is Rebel's Night Breeze

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Rebel's Splatter Kake (8695) 01/31/1998 (R. Bann) Single-semidouble pink large fluted star/darker eye, purple fantasy, white-green edge. Medium green, spooned, quilted, glossy, serrated/red back. Large

I confess my ignorance.... I had absolutely NO IDEA there were soooooo many choices. I left here and went to the sticky thread and then surfed about. This could be another addiction...lol

The mini's look sweet and will most likely be my first attempt. Havent' made a choice yet though...lol

Oh what Lovely Blooms! So pretty and I Love your stand!! : ) Nancy

Elkins, AR(Zone 6b)

Thank you cedarnest..I got that stand at wal-mart. If I remember it was like 25.00 . It works great for violets.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

JUlie Mini's and Semi'minis are my favorite ! Oh Their all beautiful ! And there are a good 30 thousand or more named Av's . You must get one !
Stnads and plants are all so beautiful VG Thanks for all your sharing !

I'm confused, maybe someone with a little more knowledge can clear it up. The Tipt pictured above is gorgeous and the one we all want with that really blue color. But the Tipt on the AVSA site looks very different, light lavendar with darker tips. Is it the camera or are they 2 different plants?

Drumheller, AB(Zone 2a)

Lovely photos...must get me a Tipt!

TFS!

Joanne

Elkins, AR(Zone 6b)

Susan..It's my camera and the sunlight I think makes it look different also....its more a lavender than blue.It could also be your computer monitor as my monitor at times shows a different shade of the real color. My flower looks the same as the avsa flower picuture ;0)

Violet_grower - Thanks, I thought it was probably the camera.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

So many things can make blooms look different... I have a really hard time getting blue/purple colors "right" with my camera also.

Here's the photo from First Class... I love the tips!!

I agree, it doesn't matter what color it is, it's a beautiful bloom
