I just happened to be standing there with the camera in my hand when I noticed a movement in my lantana out of the corner of my eye. I was hoping it would be a butterfly. Instead, I found this sneaky little devil poking his head out from the blooms, hoping to catch a butterfly or moth.

Sneaky little devil
Krikey!
I've seen more baby anoles this year than ever before. I like that they keep my bugs to a minimum. But doggone it, don't be messing with my butterflies or dragonflies!
Janet
I know what you mean. It's ok for those critters to eat the bad stuff, but leave the good things alone. Think they listen?!?
Oh Janet, you are definitely going to be having to use that new cage! This fella is cute but he's being a baaad boy right there!
I know Paige. I had a long talk with him. I doubt it did any good though. I did think though that it showed incredible forethought to sneak up there between the blooms to away his dinner, even if that wasn't what *I* would have liked.

Great photo!!! I have green anoles that like crawling around on my back porch beams. Had lots of vines growing around there and they also like hiding out amongst the foliage. Figured as long as they stay there the butterflies out in the yard will be safe.
Gotta say it again...that is really a cute photo!!

Here's one that thinks I don't see him!!!
Too funny the one hiding amongst the lantana! Very smart little critter! Loved the photos!
Sooo Janet, you talk to your critters too? lol I know my neighbors wonder who I'm talking to when I'm saying "stop it!", "go away!", "get off there!" etc. etc.! I have no idea how it started but I've become a very vocal gardener. :)
The anoles are so cute! My parents have a lot of them. I released a few last year that people gave me and have seen one this year.
I have those tiny little geckos now. They are really cute, and really fast!
We have two different anoles. We have the green ones, which supposedly are native to Florida and the brown ones that come from elsewhere (maybe Central America)? I love them all.
Me, too! They keep me entertained with their behavior! They are so funny to watch. LOL!
There are hundreds of anoles out there. Sometimes it seems like each plant has it's own defender of bad bugs. I think it's funny to watch those lizards tilt their head side to side as I'm ranting and raving about my butterflies and dragonflies.
I can only imagine what my neighbors must think as they hear me, through the fence, "Have you lost your little lizard mind??? Are you eating one of my dragonflies??? Open your mouth! Now Dernit!!!" Yes folks, I've lost it (my mind) out in the backyard. If any of you sees it, please send it back my way. :-)

That is a wonderful picture. Looks like he is posing.

That is a fantastic photo!!
MySharona - Very cute! Great close-up photos!
Here's one of the lizards in my garden waiting patiently on top of the Butterfly House. (Maybe he thought that butterflies really use them! LOL)
Loving all the anoles and lizard photos!
BTW - I, too, talk to them when they are looking to get into "trouble"! LOL!

Great photos of anoles. Like the lunch one...that dragonfly got it before it could get a butterfly. That other strange looking one looks like he's got a new tail. Must've been snatched off by bigger predator.
Cute one sitting on the butterfly house...nice to see that house is getting used...even if it's by a lizard :o)

These are all great pics!! I especially love the one with the sunflower! You really need to have that printed and frame it. Now I'm jealous of all the lizards, except that dragonfly eating one. ;)
Baaaaaaaaad Jack!
Several weeks ago, I saw a beautiful Monarch laying eggs on my milkweed. I've seen several smaller anoles hanging out around there. It's no wonder I haven't found any monarch caterpillars.
Your Lady Margaret is beautiful. I have a purple passionvine. Not sure what the name of it is. I've really enjoyed it though.

I'll try to remember to do that. (whispering) { It really doesn't matter one way or another. I'll figure it out someday! :-) } I've got some other irons in the fire right now.
Connie and I are making a copper sculpture for Balvenie. At his request, we're documenting the whole thing by photos, etc. and posting it on a thread in the Artisans forum. Check it out if you get a chance.

Well, after viewing all the cute and funny photos of the anoles and lizards, I was thinking how cute and innocent they are! NOT!!!
Here's a photo I took today. I was out checking how my garden did with the low overnight temps and I saw these familiar orange wings moving slightly. On further inspection, I realized that the butterfly had become dinner for an anole. Much to my dismay, the anole dropped the GF right after I took the photo, so the butterfly's demise was for nothing! I think the anole had too much in his mouth with the wings of the GF outstretched and couldn't swallow it anyway. Grrrr!!!! That little bugger took off. I think he knew he was a baaadddd boy! :-S
That's too bad about the GF. I wish he'd chosen a spider instead!
I am tremendously afraid of spiders, especially the black hairy ones (with the white dots on their back). But if they're outside, I leave them alone. Last summer one had made his home on my hose hanger. I had to use that hose every night, and every night I had to worry about that darned old spider. Until one night when he ended up in the jaws of an Anole. Yeah!!!
