I had hoped to get great pictures of this double but she has too many flowers and they have made her branches droop into the bougie below. A snail has found her too. Boo hoo. Oh well. She is a good color too for this time of year. You can see the orange fuchsia there clashing so badly with the bougie on the side. I need to move that one. LOL
A DP
Hey Kell, You're too hard on yourself!! If this was mine I would be doing the brug dance and cartwheels!! Ha , I wonder if I could still do a cartwheel!!!! Probably break my wrist if I tried!!
I've yet to see a double in person! I love seeing pictures!
Who is she?

LOL Dedda. I have a snail nursery going on right now. They seem to hatch in fall. My abutilons are their cribs. I hate them so much. Crunch crunch. LOL
This double is not named. Sometimes she is beautiful and sometimes she is a bit hinky. LOL
Vickie, do not die for one, they are getting very plentiful. In fact this winter I will do more contests with them as prizes if I get some more rooted. A lot of people have them now and they are getting big enough to start cutting on. One lady I know has sent them out to so many people as well as tons of seeds so we all will be seeing tons of them.
That bougainvillea is one of the thrills of my life. She is a standard (I love lollipops) and so variegated. As you can see she is a dense mat with tons of flowers. How happy can a plant make me? Very! LOL. I keep fertilizing all my bougies and they keep flowering for me all season long. They bloom on new growth so you have to keep it coming. And get this, NO BUGS! NO FUNGUS!! NO MUSS NO FUSS!! Just gaud color all season long. I have never seen a bougie I did not want.
Fantastic Kell, please tell what it is!!!
oh how pretty
Another beauty!!! Very nice Kell!!!
Kell
Please let us know what you will call her. Whatever the name she will be at the top of my wish list.
How do you do it girl..... One gorgeous pink after another.
Bea
kell she is lovely, that is the color I was hoping for in crossing Golden lady with Isobella, and did you see meag got a double from seeds I sent her, now next summer I hope she turns pink.
Kell
I can see why. They; boughies; are spectacular plant in bloom.I have none as of yet,
By spring when I will be home full time to dwelve into this addiction ...
Thank you so much for posting the eye candy....
Oh Doris, I didn't. I will have to go look. I hope you get a great double next summer. How cool is that!
Oh Bea, I won't be naming her. She has problems and there are lots of great double pinks already out there, so I do not feel the need. She is not from my seed so I can't take credit for it.
Gloria, it is B. Raspberry Ice. I am in love. LOL
Dedda, I am home full time and I get nothing done. Every morning I have a list to do and the next morning I have the same list. Though I find I do have lots of time to spend money. My husband is noticing that too. LOL I have 4 standard bougies in my courtyard and they never fail to give me a lift. When all else failed me in the heat and mite attack, my bougies bloomed gaud. It is also nice to have a plant that is so easy and flowers so freely. I see some in the ground around here that are only out of flower maybe 2 months of the whole year. And they are just huge.
WAAAAAH I not only do NOT have a double pink I have never seen one in person, guess that's because no one grows them around here.
I'll come over there Kareoke and we can have a pity party together..
OH my this is so frilly, It's truly one beautiful brug Kell.
I really like it, definitely a little girl........... So frilly
Kell, you've come a long way from your "Frosty" days. That double is a beauty.
My best GF from Fla., brought me a bright red bouganvilia from Florida. It was potted and full of blooms. I kept it for 3 years and the only time I saw any blooms was when she first brought it to me. Ohio doesn't get hot enough and I couldn't plant it in the ground here.
Kell all I can say is WOW.........that is a pretty double pink.
Hope you have an extended growing season so we can see more.
Later
Dee
What a delicious double treat....Brug & Bougie!! YUM!!!
All day I have had 2 songs singing in my head, enough to make me loopy! OK, even more loopy, LOL!
All our talk about bougies, anyone recall this song?
He was the boogie-woogie bugle boy of Company B
And when he plays boogie-woogie bugle
He's as busy as a bzz bee
And when he plays he makes the company jump eight to the bar
He's the boogie-woogie bugle boy of Company B
LOL, my Mom loved to dance to that song.
Then I every time I would see Jim's thread Memories, Elvis would break into song for me!
Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened thru the ages just like wine
Quiet thought come floating down
And settle softly to the ground
Like golden autumn leaves around my feet
I touched them and they burst apart with sweet memories,
Sweet memories
Of holding hands and red bouquets
And twilight trimmed in purple haze
And laughing eyes and simple ways
And quiet nights and gentle days with you
Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened thru the ages just like wine.
Do any of you do that too? All day a song can last going round and round inside my head.
LOL Gloria, I had forgotten about that. Remember how people would tell me they were sending all sorts of hot brugs and they would all bloom Frosty. LOL. Too funny! No wonder Frosty is not on my hit parade. LOL
I wonder if your bougie problem was not the heat but the length of your growing season. I am sure I am cooler here than you are and I have no trouble with them. They do like full sun and lots of fertilizer.
I promise these DP are getting much easier to get! I feel bad you guys have yet get one.
Here is another double pink I am trying to cross with that long tendriled, dark pink one whose color goes all the way up on my other current thread. Wouldn't it be great if this beautiful DP form has even longer tendrils and darker pink? Though this photo is from today, the first day open so it will get darker.
Yes, I remember that song. Thought it was before your time tho'.
Boy, keep those pics coming. You are getting some beauties.
My father played lots of music, all the big bands. I wonder what happened to all his records. I am just a baby. LOL
I finally have tons of blooms, Gloria. Now that it is too late to do much with them.
Beautiful, for sure. What do you fertilize with and how often? I'm in Northern Ca also.
Close to you?
Lovely Kell, the rest of your garden must be absolutely beautiful.
Hi Patricia!! You are home!! Actually my front yard is looking pretty good (meaning I have flowers now) but my backyard is a disaster of huge proportions (meaning it is a mess that even flowers can't help). So many plants scattered all over, all the ones I had no right to buy but forgot where I lived at the moment of heated desire. You know, you have been shopping with me, I see a plant I want and all reason leaves. Today I walked aorund with the 2 EEs I got when I was with you last week, wondering where oh where to plop them down. That emerald green one is in no way going to survive our winter. So sad.
Hi Dun1kirk, welcome to the brug forum! You are very close to me. I LOVE Berkeley gardens so much. I often meet a friend at Ikea and then go thru Berkeley to all those great nurseries there as well as the Berkeley Bot. I used to live right on the Berkeley/Oakland line in my youth in Rockridge. A fun, fun place to live for sure!
I use just about anything actually but I think this week I am favoring the brand new Miracle Grow Spray I dissed just weeks ago. LOL. But I often just toss in a handful of the cheap store brands that are 16-16-16 or 20-20 -20. I sadly am not good at fertilizing but if you want huge brugs I would do it at least every week or 2 weeks for weaker or lesser amounts of fertilizers. Though I have never fertilized that often in my life. But many do I read on here. I am more of a hit or miss but hit it hard when I do it kind of gardener. I do find they love foliar feeding, perks them right up.
