Since it's getting cold here in the evenings and my basement proved disastrous last year, I've decided to store my plumies bareroot in the house. Problem is, I can't find any instructions on this. I went through the sticky, and found some sites with photos, but no real instructions. I guess most people with these plants live in places where this isn't much of an issue. Do I just shake them clean and store them upright? Do I need to remove the leaves first. Also, can they be stored in the dark -say a coat closet, if uprooted? Thanks for your help.
Lifting potted plants for bareroot dormancy
Hi Andidandi, actually very few of us live where they can remain outside or in the ground all year. Most of us have to protect them from freezing temps. Here are some good instructions in these three links:

Here are two threads about what some members do:

You can store them in their pots or bareroot. You can remove the leaves when they go dormant or let them fall off naturally. Some say cool and dry but with some light but not completely dark. I think Michael said he will be storing his around his house this winter instead of in the basement so maybe he will chime in. Also, Paula, a member here and the PSA president, has pictures on her web site: http://www.plumerialady.net/dyncat.cfm?catid=3186 of dig up day. In the link above, Paula gives detailed instructions about what she has to do (start at August 6 entries)
