I do believe I have figured out why my plants won't bloom...they've been hungry and thirsty! I have buds galore! Thank goodness! I thought I'd never see any of them bloom! The first two to reward me with blooms are Codonanthe carnosa and Alsobia 'Cygnet'. I think they're beautiful and just had to share!
Here's Codonanthe carnosa
Blooms!!
They're looking good. What did you feed them?
Sharon
Neat! I've never grown Codonanthe. What a darling bloom. Does it have any fragrance?
Hey RG. Thanks for the information. I am having trouble with my Cygnet blooming as well. I will try more food. Hopefully that will help mine as well.
Thank you all very much! I don't notice a fragrance to the Codonanthe bloom, Snowrose.
I've begun a new feeding schedule for my plants. Started it a month and a half or two months ago. I water about every 5 days and it's a 4 part cycle. Watering #1 is Fish Emulsion, Watering #2 is Peter's AV food, Watering #3 is Optimara AV food, and Watering #4 is plain water. Since I go through a lot of water, I don't have a place to leave that much sitting out for the chlorine to evaporate, so I use aquarium Tap Water Conditioner, which removes chlorine and chloramine. It seems to be working wonders for all of my Gessies. Many that I expected were going to die have put out lots of new crown growth. I think I was underwatering, underfeeding, and the chlorine/chloramine in the water was harming them. Sometimes I set them in dishes of water to soak it up, and sometimes I use a turkey baster to water from the top...which reminds me that Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, so I need to get a new one for cooking purposes only! LOL
Sounds very professional. Looks like it is working!
