I had a brug I loved that started out yellow and then turned orange. The leaves had points around the edge. I thought it was Big Yella but I can't find it in the Plantfiles. Does anyone know what this brug is?
Can you identify without a picture?
It's so difficult to come up with an ID.
My first thought was Charles Grimaldi.

I am trying to remember, but isn't it Dr. Seuss that has the serrated leaf Kin? I think I only grew Dr. Seuss till she flowered then out she went so I do not know if he turns orange.
My CG never turned orange, only Big Yella did for me.
Don't you think most yellows are male? Even their names are.
Sounds like the Dr. to me. (not an expert). Pointy leaves, yellow to orange.
so Kell, there IS a Big Yella? Do you or anyone have a picture?
Sounds like CG to me, orange, seratted leaves...Dr. S hated it here, twice, but the blooms I had were yellow...cats ate the leaves...
Yes, I lost some of them after they bloomed. I didn't know what I was doing with cuttings. I loved Whiskers and Big Yella and still have Charles Grimaldi, Isabella, and Versi Peach. I would love to have Whiskers and Big Yella again.I really only have room for about 5 brugs total on my property so I have to choose very carefully. I would love a deep pink. All offers gratefully received lol. I do have some trades of other types of plants, but have swapped all the irises for this year except for some yellow unnamed ones.
Dr. Suess turns orange. I was talking to another member Sunday and we were talking about Dr. Suess and how orange they turn after a couple of flushes. Mine looks as if someone took gold paint and gave it a good coating. Sort of looks antiqued. Just beautiful.
The leaves of the one I think is Big yellow are broader with there serrations and not ovate. I think Kell's picture is correct. Kell, do you have some cuttings of Big Yella that you'd share? and Whiskers?
The CG leaves, here, are seratted like that, but very dark green, almost blue. The best Dr. S was, here, was med green, at the very best...
I am satisfied that I have the right name for the one I had. There is a woman growing them in town, in a beautiful garden directlly behind the courthouse. Last year, I saw that she had cut them down and had them in a pile waiting on the garbage truck. So this year I tried to contact here through a sister-in-law, to see if she would share some cuttings. However, my friend tried to call her and dialed me instead and left a message about me wanting some cuttings. By the time we discovered the error, the gardener had had a yard sale and sold all her plants as cuttings there. So wa-ah, I still don't have any.
