Well, I went to the USF Plant Festival this weekend and after I attacked the Bromeliad dealers (see the bromeliad forum for pictures - of the plants, not me attacking the dealers), Mom and I made our way over to the AV and gesneriad club's booth. Mom's developing a "thing" for streps, and they seem to do well under her care. Unfortunately, the cashier pulled the name tags out of two of them! I was looking around the booth enough that I think I remember their names, but if I'm wrong, please tell me. The first one I think was strep "Blue Network".
Some new friends
I bought a few, too. Here's Halo's A Glitter. I also got AV Lady Love, but I haven't taken a photo of it yet. If anyone is growing Lady Love, can you tell me if the leaves are supposed to be variegated? Mine are a dark, dark green that I love, but I saw photos on the internet where it was a pink variegated AV.
Oh, you DID have a fun day!!
I love the stripes and speckles on your mom's new streps, and 'Strawberry Fields' is just amazing!
I looked up your new AVs on First Class...
Halo's Aglitter (8243) 07/28/1995 (S. Sorano) Single pink sticktite star/red sparkle edge. Medium green, plain, pointed. Standard
Lady Love (M. Burns) Semidouble light pink frilled/plum sparkle edge. Variegated dark green, rose, plum and white, heart-shaped. Large
Here's a photo of 'Lady Love' from FC that shows off the variegation on the leaves...
Wow what an awesome fun day ! Beautiful plants ! You and Mom sure did well ! WOW . I'll be looking at your Brom's later too :))
Sometimes , well lot's of times variegated plants grown in warm conditions lose variegation and few other reasons not harmful to the plant. Sometimes it comes back and if you progate from a leaf lot's of times the baby is variegated.
Gorgeous plants. I've wondered what some of the bristol's look like. Thanks for the pictures.
You sure did get some nice generous sized plants. All so pretty!
Thanks everyone! I love buying from the clubs because they always have such neat varieties and they love to talk and teach you stuff. By the way, does anyone grow their violets in Dandy Pots? We got a few at a previous show, and Mom bought out the supply they had this weekend. So today I got to repot a lot of stuff and there's still more plants that need it. Oh, and I just wanted to say that "Halo's A Glitter" is really glittery but I need a new digital camera so the picture really doesn't do it justice.
Mom also got this episcia "suomi". It fell off the ledge when I was trying to take this pic so I had to pick it back up and dust it off. That's why it looks mad at me. I didn't even know Mom liked episcias (she has one she got a while ago) and then she starts talking to one of the club members about how the yellow flowers are so nice, blah, blah, blah. And I'm looking at her like, "When did you become an expert?"
What beautiful streps! And the AV and suomi! I have a tiny suomi - although it's a long way from the photo, it's nice to have something to aim at!
Beautiful everything ! I love suomi! and her yellow flowers !
i love all of them!
wow that lady love is amazing! i love the foliage!!!! got to have this one!!!!!!!!

Just Wonderful.I Would Be Hard Pressed To Pick A Favorite! I Love Them All : ) Nancy
Nancy, that's the problem, isn't it? I want to take them all home! Mom's starting to run out of room; we're going to have buy a nice plant stand for her.
