We have just moved to Brenham (about midway between Austin and Houston) and my daughter and I spied this flower on a bushy / cascading viney thing in downtown. The plant is either a creeper or a vine -- I think where we saw it it was probably potted with a climing pole, but it's hard to tell because it was basically a 5' cascading triangle spilling out onto the sidewalk. Here is a picture of it.... anyone know what it is? We'd LOVE to plant one on our property.
What is this purple bush / vine?
Is that a blue plumbego? They get rather large and seem to climb.....

Yup, I concurr, plantlady, plumbago, I have one sprawling all over the place. gorgeous periwinkle color. They also come in white. Hardy, healthy, and pretty. Wil bloom better in more sun than shade. Grows really fast but it isn't a climbing vine in the truest sense, but gets leggy and does more of a "hanging" than climbing.
Don't know where you moved from but now is a wonderful time to plant lots of winter color. Pansies, dianthus, phlox.
I have them in the blue and the white... very good Texas hot sun plant that Doesn't really like much water!

I have them in morning sun, full sun, afternoon only sun; one gets lots of water and is huge (the irrigation head is covered up by the plant). The only one I had that didn't do good was in too much shade. Once I moved it into sun, it got huge. I have to whack these way back in early spring (after the last frost date) or they kind of have a tendencey to take over. I love this plant!!
The blues ones flower more prolifically than the white for me, but otherwise an excellent, long blooming plant.
Yes they are so nice and refreshing in the summer when all else looks like it wants to give up the blue seem like floating cool pools. Very refreshing to look at!

Blue Plumbago is trouble free: drought, disease and fungi resistent. An excellent flowering plant.
Wombatfamily, Love your name! The word "wombat" is one of our family jokes and I smiled as I read your name. I hope you can come up to the RoundUp in College Station in November. Then i can tell this goofy story to you in person..Welcome to the area!! nancy
