Turkish Angora Rescue...

Ingleside, TX(Zone 9a)

Three days ago, this BEAUTIFUL Angora showed up in our neighborhood. I had gotten word of it but hadnt seen until Friday night. I had let my cat, Bob, out to do his thing and heard the most AWFUL racket. Bob is VERY territorial and this cat, about a year old, if that, had wandered into Bob's area. Bob is a large cat and he had this little thing hemmed up..and terrified. I was so upset at Bob. He was being so mean! I know it's his house and yard, but gosh.Anyway, the cat was adorable and soooo loving. I KNEW this was someones pet and NOT just a stray. I got Bob inside and then fed and watered the cat and bedded him down in the garage.Yesterday morning the cat was nowhere in sight! I thought, ok.he went home!(and yep. def. a male). WRONG! Last night, again, I heard commotion and went out and 2 cats I had never seen before had this thing cornered and were literally attacking him!! I ran them off and got the terrified Angora and ,after loving on him and checking for injuries, I took him out to our storage building. Fed and watered him..made him a nice bed..came inside and worried off and on all night..Checking on him like every 2 hours. He was a mess, but I didnt see what appeared to be serious injuries..except to his psyche.. His coat looked horrible..he had been so traumatized.and so had I. I was heartbroken. This morning, I went out and got the cat..He was glad to see me! BUT, I just couldnt keep him..so that was my quandry. I thought, well, this is no ordinary stray..I knew he was Angora..I dug the cat crate out..trying to decide what next..and he readily went in.Another clue...SOMEBODY HAD to be missing a cat. My Bob and Toby's (toby is my boston terrier) vet is half a block away..I called him..told him the situation. He met me at his office..and right away he KNEW the cat!!! I was sooo happy! He called the owners and 15 minutes later, cat and humans were reunited. The fellow had gotten out somehow..and they had been looking for him. I figure, being a young male, he was on his "first prowl". All I know is I have had very little sleep the last 2 nights! But over all, it was worth it..and I would go through it again. I can NOT let an animal suffer. I just hope that if, for any reason, should Bob or Toby ever get lost, another person would be kind to them..and get them back home. One advantage I have is both my animals have microchips. I highly recommend it. We all know there are a LOT of folks who dont like cats and dogs and wouldnt think twice about killing them or just dumping them somewhere..Ok..sorry this is so long..I just needed to share..Thanks for letting me.
