Tomato Offer
I saved seeds this year from 'German Red Strawberry' (one of my favorites) and can send you a packet of 20 or so. I have to check my stash, but I should be able to spare at least a few seeds of 'Cherokee Purple', 'Polish Linguisa', maybe also 'Amish Paste'. I don't have 'Flamme', but I do have 'Jaune Flamme' from last year, if you're interested. Those seeds are a year old but should still germinate fine. Standard disclaimer: I didn't bag blooms or isolate seeds, so I can't guarantee seed purity or recommend my seeds other than for home garden use. They were fermented, dried, and stored at controlled room temperature.
I can also check the seeds I received from trades and haven't yet tried in my garden to see if I have any on your list... even if I have just a few extra seeds in the packet, that might work for you to be able to try a plant or two. Would as few as 3 or 5 seeds work for you? I'll send more if I have them to spare, of course.
It's also fine with me if you'd rather trade with somebody who bags blooms or has more or fresher seed to offer.
Out of curiousity, were these seeds saved from your garden this year? If so, what did you think of their taste, and how did they do for you?
Woah critterologist you are a dream come true!! I would have been more than happy with one on my list, what else would you like me to send you? What veggies do you like growing other than tomatoes? I could also send you some saffron for cooking OR they sell the saffron/crocus bulbs in the health food shop grown by a hollistic gardener near where I live.
The tomatoes are from packets I'm afraid, and I didn't grow them this year but I will be sowing them all come spring! Muchamiel (lots of honey) have an excellent reputation here they are a med-large ribbed, tres cantos(3 songs) are an excellent salad tomato and Rio Grande were excellent for us this year we made loads of jars full-very sweet.
Thanks soooo much for your very kind offer and I'm over the moon that you can offer more then one on my wish list :-))))
Would that be Crimson Carmello? Thai Pink Egg? Pruden's Purple?
I believe the Flamme and the Jaunne Flamme are the same tomato.
I have quite a few from your list, but alot of them are collected and from trades where someone else has collected them, so I won't trade them. I have had so many disappointments on seeds that I've gotten from collected tomatoes that I will only trade with/for commercial seeds. I will review my list to see which I have that are commercial and send you a d-mail with a list. Since I haven't packed your trade yet, I will happily add them for you!
Cheers Sequee! I wonder why your collected seeds don't do so well? do you want anything else from my list? Or as I offered critterologist I could send you some saffron for cooking or get you some bulbs??
I think people sometimes get c'fused when they are bagging. I know I sent someone Yellow Ruffled and he got Tigerella! (And I would have bet my paycheck that the seeds were pure.) I can only assume, that this has happened with others' as well since I've received more than a few mixed seeds, even in the same bag!
We already traded for the saffron - lol!
I sent you another d-mail and will hold off on our trade until I get a chance to review which of my seeds I feel comfortable trading to you..
Got your DMail just forgot it was you Sequee! I'll hold out and we'll extend the trade, I'm excited about this swap!!
Hi!! I have an unopened pack of jelly bean hybrid from Ferry Morse, apparently forgot I already had bought the first one. I also have an unopened pack of Burpee "fourth of july"hybrid. Ripens extra early, same deal.....forgot. Let me know!! Also will throw in a pack of the "cheap" rutgers select if you would like.
I have these(I got them from trades):
Banana Legs
Amish Paste
Cherokee Purple
Hey - those "cheap" ole Rutgers Select are some darn good eatin'!
Yes, they are!!! They get to be a nice size, too. Not too big, not too small.
If your "Thai Pink" is 'Thai Pink Egg', my advice would be to take it off your list! I grew it last summer, and it was deemed a "spit out" variety. Granted, taste is subjective and varies with growing conditions, but... very few tomatoes make me say, "yuk!" I think it made other peoples "do not grow again" lists also.
I'd be happy to trade for saffron... I have saffron crocuses blooming now, and I plan to pick some of the stamens for fresh use, but I don't think I'll have enough to try drying it. I don't think I'll have time this week to look through my seed stash, but will try to get you a list soon. I've also got some basils you might like, to go with all those tomatoes!
Oh, Critter, I'm sorry you had such a problem with Thai Pink Egg. It was the best tomato I had this year. Very productive, with a sweet taste. Was absolutely wonderful for canning.
Biscombe, I can send you my seed for Thai Pink Egg. I also have the following seed from trades that I would be happy to send: Druzba, Supersweet 100, and Cherokee Purple.
Please let me know.
Thank you,
Kim

HI all,
DMailed you all! Thanks for all the great offers! I'm packing the seeds now and awating your addresses. I've taken off all the tomatoes that you kind souls have offered me (didn't know how to do the strike through!) I still have plenty of the tomatoes on my list to trade with so it's not too late to swap!
Thanks again
All the best
Rosie
