Photo Opportunity

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

Now that bulb planting time is upon us, we all have bags of various bulbs that will be buried for some time, maybe never to be seen again! This is a great opportunity for those of us with cameras to upload pictures of bubs to Plantfiles!
Sure, there's lots of close-ups of beautiful flowers, but I'd like to request and encourage people to post pictures of the bulbs themselves! I think it's a big help, especially to 'newbies' and beginners like myself to see what they look like, especially the more unusual plants. I'm posting a few, but my camera's limitations (and mine) are apparent.
So, do us all a favor, when you're out in the garden on your hands and knees planting next years flowers, take a few pictures... it's a good way to record what's planted where, too

Quite true, Claypa, because some are rather odd.

Additionally, there are always folks who dig up an old bed and find a load of bulbs and could use help figuring out approximately what they are.

Yet another dimension of diversity in the garden.
This is the most bizarre bulb shape I've ever seen.

So what ARE the two other ones - the one that looks like a brain that was dipped in pea soup and the one that looks like a fungus fan?

Great idea claypa! Good on you for the encouragement!

I am also trying to takes pics of bulb seeds, so if anyone has any of those.......take pics!

I am recording my Gladiolus species seeds.

clapa--great idea! And what kind of bulb is in your pic?

And kenton, what about yours?...

Any more?

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

My picture is Allium sphaerocephalon. I searched around for about an hour trying to find any pictures of bulbs and got nowhere....so I have no idea what Kenton's are. I'd guess the second one is some kind of lily

Sorry, I could have saved you some searching but thought Kenton may want to tell you!

The first brain one is Fritillaria camschatcensis, unless I have got it wrong! The second also a Fritillaria, not sure which one now but I'm sure K will tell you.
