Weight Loss Challange Oct. 14 - 21

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

I just had a talk with myself after getting off the scale this morning. I am still at 137# for about the 3rd week. There are 7000 calories between where I am now and where I want to spend the winter months - 135#. That is about 15# less than last winter. Maybe more. I'm not going to go back that far in the posts to find it. Anyway, I feel good about the year's progress. I gained all those pounds over 3 - 5 years and it will be better if I take it off that way. This way I will have learned new eating habits and will be much more able to keep them off permenantly.

There was lots of talk about the fish fry at the cafe' last night. All the pies and cakes being made, the gallons and gallons of baked beans being made, etc. I did taste the baked beans(about 1/3 c. of them)and they are wonderful. I told one of the women that all those empty calories are just the reason I will not be there. I calmed her a bit by letting her know I am buying a ticket. Even my boss Dale told her I am doing the right thing because of the calories and my desire/need to control my weight. I think that suprised her. It did me. Most of the people who work at the cafe' also are the pillars and backbones of that little country church. The fish fry is an annual event and is used to pay for the fellowship hall they have been building for the past few years. It doubled the size of the building and was much needed. The oldest daughter Mel is in terrible condition with back and leg pain so I told her a bit ago that I will pitch in and help all I can. She has a teenager and 3 small boys so staying in bed is really difficult for her. I can empathize because I went thru the same thing at her age and had children too. My problem was slipped and ruptured disks and I have a feeling hers is too. The chiroprator has told her to go get an MRI and see a medical doctor because he feels it is beyond what he can do. He has adjusted her 4 times in a week or so and she is continuing to get worse. Her husband frequently works out of town so isn't there to help her.

Must get busy. I'm making Impossible Blackberry Pie for the fish fry. The birds need to be taken care of, etc.

GOD bless, guide, strengthen, and keep each of you.
