Hey cool, you found the name! Now I can add my images too.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

One of my photos of it did not post yet I guess.

I spent several hours tracking down the name, Sue. Actually this was my 3rd go round, I had given up twice before. Last week I saw the picture of it in the SF Chronicle and it got me going again.

But I couldn't find the name they had given it on my searches. So I started emailing all around to strangers again. LOL. I got a bite and a guy emailed me back with the name of the hybridizer and its real name which was different than the name given in the paper but I couldn't find that name online either. Finally I actually called the nursery in Vista, Ca where it had been hybridized.

So since I had him emailing, I asked where I could buy it after appropriate gushing, well he is a wholesaler and he was not won over by my charms. SHOOT!

And guess what, Lali and I drove right by the same bromeliad wholesale nursery that hybridized it. When I saw the address online when I was searching for their phone number I couldn't believe it. I even said to Lali at the time that I wanted to stop. And the meanie said NO! LOL!! It was right next door to Kartuz Greenhouse. What a small world. I might ask Mike to walk over and buy me that bromeliad and mail it to me. LOL

I saw that portion you posted in the files about the means you went through to find the name, where there's a will there's a way as they say! Great detective work. It is a beauty. I just submtted my image too.

And what is wrong with that meanie?! LOL

Oh not her fault, she had her eye on the long drive and she had to do all the driving. I even tried to get her to stay over another day. I had fun doing a plant trip with no Tom growling at me. LOL

PS I have to update my comment to include my email from Jeffrey Kent. I figure since he made that plant his name should be the one that stands.

Hey, the meanie just had to get home. Trust me I would have stopped if I knew they had this one!!
There was so much to do, and so little time. Now Kell's twisting my arm for another road trip. How bout it Sue?

LOL, I am looking around my house and wondering what/where with all the plants I got lately!
No, DH would be sad I picked plants over a road trip somewhere with him.

But I can be talked into day trips here and there. :-)
