It's, it's, it's......!!!!

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Buds on my sickly little 2-strand linearis!
I couldn't believe it when I found this yesterday.

This poor little thing has seemed to be struggling along, so I was checking on it's progress.....and found these!
One on each of it's two strands!

I wonder if it's blooming is a 'happy' thing, or a 'defense mechanism to survive' thing?? LOL!!

Please ignore my dry hands....two excuses:
a) winter had decided to arrive here in October
b) I didn't have time to primp....LOL!!

Way to grow, Nan! It sure looks healthy. What is your secret? I have had mine for several years and never even seen a sign of a peduncle. You rock, girl!

Mel....these are the rooted cuttings that *you* sent to me!! LOL!
(They were beautiful when I received them, BTW...and they're still OK, I guess...but just don't look as happy as they did, or as I'd hoped they would!)
Seriously...I thought I was doing a *dreadful* job of taking care of them!

I had read somewhere, maybe something that Carol posted...I dunno, can't remember....that in it's native habitat it receives a lot of rain during the summer....(or during *our* summer, anyway)
AND....I received some more cuttings from another lady who said that she keeps her plant on the moist side, always.

So....I just watered the heck out of it this summer, though I did let it dry between waterings, and I also have it on a windowsill, here at work, that gets quite cold during the winter.....so you don't think it's blooming only because it's trying to survive??

Or maybe this *cold* during the winter (I note that markroy, was it? mentioned that in another thread about cold-tolerant hoyas) and lots of water during the summer are the keys?
BTW...this plant receives very bright light from an east facing window all year.

Must have the very best growing conditions. Way to Go!

Can't believe that I forgot to post the flower photos!

This was from a few weeks back, and these blooms lasted around 2 weeks!

I was holding both strands/clusters together in this photo.

I checked *daily* for scent....just the vaguest little bit of scent, if I recall correctly, and much like that of Carnosa. The blooms are long gone, now...so I can't check!
Thanks for the compliements, all...I just hope that it's blooming isn't a sign of it's last ditch effort for survival...but it's not doing too bac, so am hoping that's not the case! LOL!

Very pretty.

Nan, really pretty flowers, congrats. LOL your hands look like mine !! I have resorted to Eucerin Creme as it is the only thing that will help with the darn hang nails, and dryness. My DH always tells me to work with my gloves on, but I just can't stand to wear them.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

I'm with you, Tami...can't stand gloves!!! but I use them, now, when I clorox my washed pots and when I mix my potting medium and shovel it with my hands. I like the fishermen's gloves...with the vinyl palms and fingers and the rest of the glove cotton knit. I also soak them in Shea Butter for FEET which feels really good!!!

Nan, Your blooms look great. Its always a pleasues to get them when you haven't seen them on the plant before. Good job. I have several I'm waiting on.

Thanks, all....I'm still so surprised that these two little strands bloomed!

I might add that these 'spurs' were terminal (at the very end of each strand) and that the plant now appears to be branching out from the sides of that spur.....I thought that was interesting.

Woooohooo, Nan! You've got the touch!
