OT: Dregea sinensis (again)

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Remember discussing this plant?
I did go ahead and order seeds from Chilterns.....here are the results!
Some of the seedlings are variegated....I'm really pleased!

They're cute little things but don't know what they are (except they're plants, of course).

Hey great growing Nan, I like the little var. one. Did you plant seed for the var. one or was it a surprise.. Very cool

Way to go Nan. They look great.

Gosh, I'd forgotten I'd posted this!

These were really good quality seeds that were incredibly easy to germinate.
They did recommend a 'copper fungicide' be sprayed on top of the soil first to prevent 'damping off', and I happened to have some that I had never used, so I did spray the top of the soil...and no 'damping off' at all!

Tami...the coolest thing is that about 1/2 of the seedlings are showing variegation......all out of the same seed packet as the non-variegated ones.

Has anyone who ordered D. sinensis *plants* seen them bloom yet?

Nan,
Where did you order them from?

Chiltern's, Patti.
I don't recall their exact web address, but I found it in a google search using the words Chiltern's seeds.

They aren't a US Company, but their shipping is very inexpensive, and they've always come highly recommended.

I think I planted 10 seeds, and all but one came up....that's a pretty darned good germination rate!

Nan are these related to hoyas?

Thanks Nan. Checking them out.

Yes, makshi....one of the other members had posted about them a while back and several members had purchased plants.
Here's some info and a photo of the flowers:

Pretty, don't you think?

You're welcome, Patti!

It says "deciduous" climber. Does that mean they are going to loose their leaves this winter? Good thing I read that as mine have dropped a few leaves & I was getting worried.

Oooh very pretty, Nan! I knew you had it in you! Now I'll have to order myself some seeds. You bad, bad girl....lol!!!

I'm glad you pointed that out, Mairzee, as I hadn't read that!!

If it says deciduous, then I guess that means it will lose it's leaves, or at least a good portion of them.

I have other plants that I grow indoors that are known to be deciduous that will 'hang on' to a few....just gotta watch the watering during that dormancy, and I suppose a cool location will help, too.

Donna....no comment....just (Ü)....it's been fun and rewarding growing these!

When did you plant them, Nan? Also have you had blooms yet??

Hey there Nan, can you help me with some growing tips (conditions, soil etc) with this plant? I just got it yesterday and would love to keep it alive
