Ok I just dug up all my EE's and brought them in for the winter and I have way to many of one kind. I have about 10 babies of an EE that was called Mammoth EE when I bought the bulbs. I love EE's so I can easily be tempted with them. I already have Black Magic, Illustris Imperial Taro , African Mask, and one more that I cant remember the name of right now. I also love Banana trees. would love to have Basjoo that is hardy to all zones. Also just tempted me I am easy.
Thanks
Beck
EE's for trade

moretz
moretz,
picture 1 is the mammoth EE and I am not sure it was the first year in the ground. Some of my leaves 2 1/2 - 3ft long but I had to cut those off to bring them in. Between them on my 2 Philo's there wasnt enough room. I think they will get bigger but I am not sure. I had to transplant the ones in a pot like 5 times they are fast growers but they need the room that I didnt give them this year. I had 2 under a tree this year and the ones in pot in full sun did better so make sure they get lots of sun and plenty of water.
If your are interested I would love to have one of you lime zingers.
Thanks
Beck

rwmedic, you can winter over Musa Bajoo. if you have a cool spot, not freezing. I put my Musa in a large crate and cover it with wood chips. and store it in my unheated garage. when we have that first frost I dig them up and cut off the leaves and then put them in the box and cover. they come through the winter just fine. I also have Musa sekkimensis, it has a lot of red in it. it's native to the Himalayas. Jim
Hi ya Jim,
Thanks for the info. I have 4 Nanas that I brought in. I have a room in the house not being used. I have several Grow lights, in there and the temp is up along with the humidity. I also brought in my pond plants with a bubbler in thier water. I love the warmth and humidity when I walk in there. Just wish it was a bigger room so I could start next years plants too.
The naners that I have are: 1 ice cream, 1 dwarf that is doing well and the other I have babyed all summer, not doing so well But it finally got a new leave a few days ago. And I bought a pittiful one from ebay that is not doing well. was all dried up when I got it. It was maybe 3" tall and that is ok if it had been moist. So I soaked it down and have it in that room also.
My garage is heated but the dogs have a section in there for when we are not home and the motorcycle and ofcourse all the tools and hunting gear so no room for the plants. Good thing I have 2 spare rooms....LOL
Also Jim if you have any pups I would be glad to trade something or pay postage on them. I would love to have some with color in them. We started a new pond this year and I plan on putting Nanners, EE's, Grasses, and oh i dont know what yet around it.
Thanks again for the info
Beck
Hi beck, we still have a trade going on, but I would love some small ee bulbs--esp black-- if you prefer instead of hibiscus, but if not, do you still have my list? I don't have a plant list yet but will be working on it.
Jim, I too would like to get into the "naner" culture. I am also zone 8a. What are you looking for in trade possibilities?
thanks,
deb
Oh Deb I just saw this reply. I would be glad to send you one of the Green EE,s. I dont have any black pups yet maybe next year they got stresssed when I brought them in I thought I was going to loose them but they popped back beautifully. But I am leaving town for a few day so dmail me or reply here again on Monday so I can read it Tues and remind me. Maybe you will have a plant list by then too....BTW you seeds are already in the mail and dusted with seven.
Beck
