Help--I planted some Leucojum (Snowflake) bulbs about two weeks ago, and they are sprouting now. I'm in North Carolina, zone 7b--did I plant them too soon, and it is too warm, so they sprouted? Are they supposed to sprout in the fall for bloom in the spring? I assumed they would sprout in late winter/ early spring. I think I might have put them in ground that was too warm and they thought it was spring...the bulbs, to my knowledge, were not pre-chilled. Anyone grown these in the upper south? Thanks
Did I plant Leucojum too soon....?
Now is perfect timing--they start popping up here in November.
I grow Leucojum vernum ~ snowflake. No need to panic or to pre-chill these bulbs. Should the foiliage die down from frost, it will come back and bloom in late winter or early spring. My foilage dies down in summer. Not to worry... pod
Mine are coming up here too in N. Central Texas!
Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou to all!! Great reassurance that I didn't goof too much!
