Hi I am new to brugs, had someone send me several cuttings last fall, only one survived and it bloomed as of Sunday morning. Don't have a digitial camera (will have to borrow the work camera tomorrow). I have truly fell in love with this plant. I don't pics I can seen truly did it justice.
Now I am wondering when I should dig it up and bring it in, I have it planted around my pool with EE. I haven't dug the EE up yet either. Any special treatment during the winter.
I would also like some cuttings of other colors if anyone has any available for postage or houseplants. Most of the houseplants I have left are pretty common. I do have a few running ee as well.
Thanks for any advice anyone can give.
First Bloom - When to bring in and Cuttings Wanted.
I've seen some other posts about bringing the brugs in before it freezes, so I guess it would depend on your weather report. Several people have mentioned keeping brugs in basements and letting them go dormant - just enough water to keep alive. I only had one last winter, and it was in the greenhouse and never lost its leaves, but just sort of sat there. I kept it pretty much on the dry side. The rest of mine are cuttings that I received and was late getting out or into larger pots, so they are still quite small, but everyone around here is so generous that I'm sure you'll be able to get cuttings.

We are supposed to get down to 33 tonight and I just crammed all mine in the greenhouse a little bit ago. It is supposed to warm back up a bit but I don't know if I'll be up to dragging them all back out. LOL
I have some cuttings unrooted. how many do you want? severl different types... LMK and I'll tag them and send. I got many plants last season from wonderful DG'ers, and want to pay it forward.

What would be a good starter Brugmansia ?
I have moved from Europe and have never seen plant in person. Just by looking at the photos, they look gorgeous !!!
I live in zone 8 (Central Texas by Ft Hood).
I went to Lowes and Home Depot but could not find any.
What online nursery do you suggest I should buy one from and which one?
Hi HPV! You will probably be able to get cuttings to get started right here on DG. This was my first year with brugs, and I only had one bloom, but it was worth it!! They are beautiful.
Where did you move here from?

If you get to Austin anytime, I'd be glad to share cuttings of my "unknown" orange/yellow. It's huge, smells heavenly, and I've been able to root many cuttings from the original plant. I just recently received some cuttings and rooted brugs in the mail from a DGer. I can tell you, it's fun to get plants in the mail! I can send cuttings to you via mail for postage...or if you're in town....come by. I have lots of things that need trimming and would be glad to share. My husband's retired AF, but we don't get up to Ft Hood much anymore because of hassle of getting onto post since 911.
You'll have to keep brug in garage or house in our zone over winter ...at least till it's established.
Welcome to the neighborhood! Sandi
